PPP: Obama, Palin tied 46/46 in 2012 polling
Hot Air ^ | July 15, 2010 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 07/15/2010 1:01:06 PM PDT by counterpunch

No, this is not coming from Rasmussen or an internal GOP poll, but from the normally Democrat-sympathetic Public Policy Polling...

With his approval numbers hitting new lows it’s no surprise that Barack Obama’s numbers in our monthly look ahead to the 2012 Presidential race are their worst ever this month. He trails Mitt Romney 46-43, Mike Huckabee 47-45, Newt Gingrich 46-45, and is even tied with Sarah Palin at 46. The only person tested he leads is Jan Brewer, who doesn’t have particularly high name recognition on the national level at this point.

It’s not that any of the Republican candidates are particularly well liked. Only Huckabee has positive favorability numbers at 37/28. Romney’s at 32/33, Gingrich at 32/42, Palin at 37/52, and Brewer at 17/20. But with a majority of Americans now disapproving of Obama it’s no surprise that a large chunk of them would replace him as President if they had that choice today.

There are two things driving these strong poll numbers for the Republican candidates. The first is a lead with independents in every match up. Romney leads 48-35 with them, Gingrich is up 50-39, Huckabee has a 46-40 advantage, Palin’s up 47-42, and even Brewer has a 38-37 edge.

The Republican party needs to realize that a true and genuine conservative is what’s needed and would no doubt win. They have to get past this notion that a moderate is the only way to win. It simply isn’t so and after this absolute disaster in Obama and this Congress it’s possible now more than ever for a conservative to win.

"The Republican party needs to realize that a true and genuine conservative is what’s needed and would no doubt win."

If you were to ask ten FReepers what "true and genuine conservative" candidate they would like to see you would probably get three to five different names. Worse than that everyone of those ten FReepers would say the others are really "RINOs".

I love America.

So I’m not particular for 2012. If you can beat Obama, I’ll support and vote for you.

With rare exceptions. Please don’t run Mel Gibson.

Obama isn’t running. He has no desire to be a two-term President. It’s somewhat obvious when you dis Democrats, Independents and Republicans that he is gone. The base wants a ‘real Democrat’, maybe a Dean comeback.

Eye of the Newt for me.He would make bambi look like a lost smarmy school boy in a debate with Newt.
As much as I love Sarahs heart. You have to have an intellectual mind to bury Bambi for good.

If Paul Ryan runs I will personally knock on every door in Ma. myself.

I’ll never vote for Gingrich.

I still see the picture of him and Pelosi on the bench in that commercial...

Both Romney and Gingrich would fall as the MSM goes after them like they have already with Palin.

She is the one who can gain on Obama, they've shot their wad with her already. If she runs, she's very capable of winning over the american people directly.

The other two would be facing the inevitable anti republican bombing from the MSM whereas she already has.

Really? You would never vote for Newt?

You rather have Obama have a second term?

This is the bogus line that starts Republican strategists down the wrong path! This is how we wound up with McCain in 2008.

Newt Gingrich doesn't even know yet that the Obama Junta and its associated movement is nationalist socialist. ( fascist). He is not even in the game. Today he advised the Tea Party to meet and with the NAACP. One does not meet with national socialists, one ridicules them for being un-American, and destroys them if necessary.Historical justice is the calling card of every fascist that ever came to power, and poor Newt doesn't even get it. Or if he does he is not letting on. Newt's advice today would destroy the Tea Party, its rank and file leaving in droves.

Newt wants to destroy the Tea Party before it gains an intractable foothold on his self serving, elitist, Republican country club progressive party. Since he is not in the game, why in all tarnation should he run or be supported? BUahahahahahahahaha!

A man who doesn't know his ash-hole from a hole in the ground running for president? Yeah right.

Haven’t really seen much of John Thune except on Greta,of course Iwould vote for him if he is the nominee.

I like Ryans look em in the eye no bullshit factual approach.Great presence.

Bobby Jindal is another good man I would outwardly support except he just dosen’t seem to have the presence.Make a great VP though.

And it's still Democrat-sympathetic, promoting the candidates the hard left wishes would be on the republican ticket. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

BINGO!

And Palin is far ahead of Obama in public support. WAY AHEAD. Count on it.

I’d love to see Newt and Mitt in Palin’s cabinet, chief advisor, etc. That would be an incredible team. But Palin is more steady than Newt, who lets intellectuals yank him around too much. And Romney is too compromised with flip-flops. They would both be outstanding presidents, but conservatives are unlikely to trust either of them.

What with all the open primaries, it’s hard to feature any conservative winning the nomination.

As an independent conservative, I cannot support Romney since he’s a liberal.

I believe Gingrich is a conservative, although he was diverted into some liberal song and dance with Nancy Pelosi recently. I think he’s still pro-life and pro-gun, and his video on God in America is good work. I believe he still has the marks of a conservative.

However, his personal history is disastrous for any presidential aspirations. Everyone makes mistakes, and his have been public, and they have every appearance of callousness. In the vicious climate of a presidential campaign, he would be buried.

Also, we must winnow out early those conservatives who simply won’t cut it. They must never enter the race in the first place. Otherwise, we’ll have the same “divide and conquer” scheme take place that killed the conservatives and left us with John McCain.
