LV officer at Costco recorded in 911 call
Official says police shout at victim: 'Get on the ground'
A 911 call made by a Summerlin Costco employee captures police shouting orders to 39-year-old Erik Scott before the U.S. Military Academy graduate was shot and killed, according to Las Vegas police.
Capt. Patrick Neville said an employee was talking to dispatchers and was close enough to the scene on Saturday that a recording of the conversation caught an officer clearly yelling, "Get on the ground."
Police have refused to release the recording. Investigators hope to review store surveillance video, but Neville said he didn't know whether any video of the shooting existed.
I believe in God and that Jesus Christ died for my sins. Many others dont. We call it faith, what do you call your statement?”
I call it my opinion..do you have a problem with that?
We're going to riot? Ok I'll bite em, if I can find my teeth.
But I'm taking a nap after I get back from dinner at the MCL Cafeteria.
I better pick up some Ensure on the way back too.
I’ve never been to a riot before, so I’m hoping that the senior citizens center has some instructional material in giant print.
Yeah, it’s the first article I’ve read about this. Sounds like it won’t be the last.
So WHAT? That just sounds SO COMMUNIST, saying somebody should do what you think they should do with money they don’t even have. And you try to make it better by saying what charity they should give it to? How bout giving it to the poor girl that was planning on spending the rest of her life with him and is now single and alone, yet with no legal recourse? How about letting what they do with the money, should there be any, be THEIR BUSINESS, which it is.
I’m sorry, I agree with your point that they should sue, sue, sue everybody and everybody. You just knd of messed your point up at the end by directing what should be done with it.
Yup. There’s lots of info out there. The first articles on FR had a lot of detail.
My guess is if he sues and wins some or all will be donated to a military affiliated charity. That’s just the way he rolls. In my opinion. Since you feel so strongly about it you should email him and advise him to sue and keep it all (if he prevails)
No - it’s just totally up to him or the girlfriend, or whoever is plaintiff. Maybe none of them have standing since he is an adult and unmarried.
“You can’t have both, and then shoot him when he chooses to obey one. “
This has happened to me- one LEO yelling FREEZE and the other yelling GET DOWN. At the top of their lungs, bellows hard to understand.
Another time I was told to stick both my empty hands out the car window, to freeze, and to get out of the car.
These events are either mistakes, or tactics, I don’t know.
Oh, tactics definitely. They provide cover if the jumpy cop accidental pulls the trigger. "He refused to follow instructions."
“These events are either mistakes, or tactics, I dont know.”
Neither of the above. It’s disorganization because no one is in charge. When there are 3 plus cops involved, someone, the senior officer has to say I will be giving the commands, the rest of you keep your mouths shut.
A contributing factor to Erik Scotts’ killing, was that the senior officer failed to take command. All of them were giving different commands, when only the senior officer should have been giving commands to Erik.
I’d call disorganization a mistake. Either way it’s easier to accept than “tactics”.
