Overall job ratings for the president continue to be below majority level.
PRINCETON, NJ -- Thirty-eight percent of independents approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as president, the first time independent approval of Obama has dropped below 40% in a Gallup Daily tracking weekly aggregate. Meanwhile, Obama maintains the support of 81% of Democrats, and his job approval among Republicans remains low, at 12%.
These data are based on Gallup Daily tracking interviews conducted the week of June 28-July 4.
Over the past year, Obama has lost support among all party groups, though the decline has been steeper among independents than among Republicans or Democrats. Today's 38% approval rating among independents is 18 percentage points lower than the 56% found July 6-12, 2009. During the same period, his support has fallen nine points among Democrats (from 90% to 81%) and eight points among Republicans (from 20% to 12%).
Overall, 46% of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing as president in the June 28-July 4 aggregate, one point above his lowest weekly average. Obama's average weekly job approval rating has not been above 50% since Feb. 8-14, though it reached the 50% mark as recently as May 3-9.

“Republicans remains low, at 12%”
If you support Obama and yet call yourself a Republican you need to do some deep soul searching or you are certifiable mental!
A minor adjustment, considering they're already living happily with Kenyan leadership.
Unlike Clinton, I don’t think Obama gives a “rat’s a**” what his poll numbers are. He’s just hell bent on doing as much damage to the country as he can in whatever time he has.
That’s not how you determine the average. It has to be weighted or prorated for each group. They dont split evenly 33.33% each. Could not easily find the breakdown on the link though, but sure it is probably not 33.33% each.
Wont happen
The One will dig in his heels
Obama has a Congress egging on his most absurd economic dogmas and an economic plan that is absolutely contrary to everything that would inspire economic growth. The proper President to compare Obama to is neither Clinton ,nor Regan, but Carter.
Obama has the same fiscal/domestic/foreign policies as Carter. He is Jimmy Carter 2.0
38% of people of approve of this guy? God Help us
worst President ever
Imagine if he had a hostile media?
Imagine if we didn’t have to see ad -infinitum postings about a supposedly MSM on a deathwatch here at FR.
None of them started off with the super high 70%+ approval ratings that 0bozo started off with. 0bozo has fallen faster and deeper than anyone else.
And none of them had the 99% approval ratings amongst blacks that 0bozo has right now. Given the high concentration of blacks in east/west coast big cities and states, his super high approval amongst blacks may not be too helpful to him for electoral votes come 2012, if his really low approval amongst whites continues to go lower. Plus of course, none of the others was a hard core Marxist. 0bozo is.

True, but there are some other things to consider. Clinton lost control of congress , especially telling was the House went republican for the first time in 40 years. HillryCare failed, and the new congress dragged Clinton to the center, did the contract with America and welfare reform. We had the internet boom AND cheap energy prices, so Clinton was saved from himself in a sense.
Reagan lost congress, but his tax cuts brought about an unprecedented boom.
The closest comparison to Hussain would be Jimmy "my name is Earl" Carter. He was weak, had no clue about the economy and brought about the rise of the mullahs in Iran. Hussain is basically Jimmy Carter on steroids. The only difference is that Hussain has the MSM in his pocket and a lot of Soros money to back him up. Plus he has ZERO regard for the constitution.
Not hard to get to 38% floor support. 95% of blacks would love him no matter what he did and a good 25% of the country is, well, stupid/gullible/on the government teat. He won't go below 35% ever.
Good point, Gonzo. Obama will most likely pout and throw fits like the child that he is if Republicans take the House. He will blame the voters when he can’t get things done. It will not be presidential.
Obama will have no such boost this his numbers since everything they are doing in DC these days is designed to be a jobs killer.
I agree with your thesis.
That 35% is the foundation upon which they will attempt to construct a Clintonian plurality for 2012.
Nice synopsis. Obamarx is much more closely related to Carter. One more thing about Reagan (related to Clinton’s internet boom) was the boom of PC’s in the workplace which, coupled with tax cuts, drove the economy. Obamarx has nothing going for him and is doing everything wrong.
Things won't improve. The best congress can do is prevent further damage. They won't be able to override any veto. If Hussain were a politician like Clinton a major loss would cause him to tack right. From everything I can see he's a revolutionary, a rigid ideologue. If he can't change the system, he'll try to destroy it. Our only hope of a turnaround is repealing 0bamacare before the taxes kick in. Second we need to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. Finally we need to get control of our borders. In short: IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN.
Remember, that only 20% of the nation now call themselves "Liberal" so that essentially is 16.8% of the country. I have always used the 80/20 rule for most things. Rule for just about every in life... 80% of the people are good and productive where 20% are F-ing unproductive, commie imbeciles!
