Where American industry is in trouble, it is because it is weighed down with taxation, over-regulation, unionization and an increasingly poorly educated or tax-demotivated workforce.

Raising tariffs/subsidies and so forcing Americans to buy their stuff from feather-bedded internal suppliers (e.g. General Motors) would not solve these problems.

But shipping our jobs and industrial base to history’s single largest communist nation ever, has been indescribably STOOPID.

I’m just saying, you can’t really control economics without disastrous consequences.

THAT is the key. Quality and higher technology products that cheaper competitor nations cannot reach in a cost effective manner. Really the only way to sustainably improve the lot of American workers is the following:

1. Cut down on unnecessary costs( unions, red tape, taxes)

2. Improve average worker educational standards to OECD levels( we’re at a 3rd world level of education right now)

3. Massively revamp our core infrastructure to lower the cost of energy, transportation, and telecom.

The problem is that steps 1-3 involves making actual sacrifices and a great deal of initial effort in order to have a better future. Quite frankly the average American wants the high paying job without putting In any additional effort. Thus we get hair brained ideas like cutting off trade, or just priting money. These actions all serve to make the pie smaller, but the reality is that the gov and people are simply too lazy and Incompetent to push for real reforms.

A while ago (a few years?) one of these protectionist assclowns linked to a YouTube video titled (something like) Haha stupid America, which showed how the Chinese were smarter and more productive than Americans.

One of their big success stories showed how they wove co-axial cable......by hand. Yeah, that's the type of manufacturing we need to bring back to America. LOL!

Raise tariffs to 1000%, for the children!!!
