New orders for U.S. factory products tumbled much more than expected in May, posting their sharpest drop since the depth of the recession and their first decline in nine months, a government report showed Friday

I am so FRICKIN’ SICK of the words more than expected. Of course it was expected. Any third grader could tell you that. Just more cover for the Obamanation.
"Now, make no mistake: We are headed in the right direction."
It begs the questions, which side is he on, and has Barack Obama ever been a USC Cheerleader?
Unexpectedly unexpected....
Another “unexpected” negative economic news item. It’s not even funny anymore.
The problem with “free trade” goes back to that mighty novel by Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged.
The philosophy was perfect.
The idea splendid.
The execution, a historical disaster for our once-industrial nation.
Where “free trade” went wrong, was in not keeping Galt’s Gulch in the United States of America.
Texas would have been a good location.
Oklahoma. Kansas, Nebraska. Idaho. Utah or Montana. Wyoming even.
But shipping our jobs and industrial base to history’s single largest communist nation ever, has been indescribably STOOPID.
Beyond stupid.
Hey, I’ve got an idea! In order to support our high standard of living, we should mandate higher wages! Employers will pay these higher wages because we will force them to charge more for their products! And everyone should live in their own house, too! We will make it easier for people to get mortgages! What can possibly go wrong?
At this point almost anything is better than what we’re doing.
Your way has been tried long enough.
Bring back our factories and our jobs. To America. Or close them.
NOW.
And make the damn trains run on time! We need a leader!
"Bad news" is ONLY unexpected when a liberal democrat's in office.
When a Republican's in office the word will be used for good news - the MSM will scream how bad it is - and when the numbers come out good, they'll say the good news is "unexpected".
Bias: the ugly reality that's killing the news business.
We don’t need a “strong leader”, or even trains.
We need American jobs.
We don’t get American jobs, by sending American jobs overseas.
That’s a absurd as Nancy Pelosi claiming jobs are created by unemployment benefits.
Bring back American jobs. If it means protectionism, then bring it on.
After all, the root for that word, is one which most everyone in a position of responsibility can relate to:
“Protect”.
Let’s protect America for a change!
Selfishly, and without needing an embarrassed explanation.
America.
First.
After all, the root for that word, is one which most everyone in a position of responsibility can relate to:
Protect.
The root of the word progressive is progress.
You must love the progress Obama is causing. LOL!
Why does this FR thread from Wednesday just stick in my mind?
Im all for looking out for US interests first.....but how are you going to mandate that the factory jobs come back when basic market forces is working in the other direction?
We can outlaw imports from China, that would immediately cause exporters to relocate fact ores to India or Vietnam or Eastern Europe, how does that improve our situation?
We can outlaw imports from ALL lower cost countries(that includes the EU and Japan). That would mean the price a tshirt is going to be $100, the price of a car would be 50-60k USD. We would have the living standards of a 3rd world country.
So at what point does the nation refuse to drink any more kool-aid? Or do we wait like those in Jim Jones establishment for them to take away even our means to defend ourselves?
And when you’ve done all that, you’ll find that the Chinese can still under-cut us on price.
There is no free trade where currency manipulation is allowed. And having a peg of the yuan to the US dollar insures that the Chinese are able to undercut our industry every day, all day.
The standard PR spin of the “free trade uber alles!” folks is wearing rather thin. Walmart bought this hook line and sinker. And now, with American wages and household incomes stagnating and falling, Walmart is having to cut prices to make sure they can still sell the imported Chinese crap.
Thanks Rational Thought.
Sam Walton has been rolling in his grave for decades. I’m old enough to remember a Walmart that sought out American-made products and proudly advertised that fact.
Then, old Sam died and his heirs took over.
