Youtube ^ | June 27, 2010 | RidleyReport

Who agrees and who disagrees with Dr. Paul? I would like to see income tax abolished (it is socialism light) but what say other Freepers? Watch the video of course.

This thread has some posters that are loonier than Ron Paul

Do you support the intrusive, punitive income tax?

Fake conservatives aren’t going to come out in favor of taxation. They realize how evil it is but still think it’s okay for the gov. to take our money b/c of brainwashing.

I do not support the current tax code, but I have no problem with an income tax in general.

I think I would eliminate the income tax on corporations (at a minimum I would allow corporations a deduction for dividends paid). I would index capital gains taxes so as to not tax the gain attributable to inflation. I would eliminate the mortgage interest deduction, deductions and credits for children and other dependants, deductions for charitable contributions, and probably some other deductions and credits and lower tax rates to offset the increased taxes due to those eliminations.

I'd bet a cup of coffee 20 percent of the people posting here are government bureaucrat employees on the government tax paid payroll.

Impossible. There's not even any porn on this site.

Okay liberals and fake “conservatives”, Id like to hear your reasoning for an income tax (which is theft of our money by the gov.). As far as I’m concerned, companies do things better then the gov. and I’d rather pay the companies I CAN CHOOSE FROM for services then pay the gov. against my will by taxes.

I have no problem with an income tax in general.

Such an odd statement for a conservative forum....

Did you know the federal and state governments just pull their tax schemes and regulations out of thin air?

Why is it Americans are gang raped to pay billions in income tax for border security, while our borders resemble a lawless Boston marathon of millions?

Can I charge government interest and demand to be paid back for services not performed?

You understand, the more income tax government confiscates, the larger, more bloated, more controlling it becomes?

Your link is busted.

And it’s curious that you file forms based on a “not ratified properly amendment”. Wouldn’t your filing be indicative of at least tacit acceptance of the validity of the laws relating to that amendment?

So what company would own the Marine Corp?

I was thinking perhaps Ford or maybe Coke-a-Cola...

Microsoft could have the Navy...

GE the Army... Boeing the Air force...

Bass Pro Shop and West Marine could pony up and split the Coast Guard...

Of course if the Army and Marines fall out of style and no one is buying them it will be bloody hard to fight an emergent ground war...

The only tax anyone should pay should be 1 cent tax per dollar for goods purchased. Property tax and income tax should be totally eliminated.

All government employees, including Congress, should have their wages immediately reduced to minimum wage for the privilege of serving. We'll give them meal tickets and furnish their housing in double wide mobile homes if needed. Everyone only serves 3 years, no more. This will be done in an effort to stop the tidal wave of government corruption, and endless government growth and control.

Just reducing the size of government bureaucracy at all levels, to include cities, counties, states and the Feds by ten to twenty million bureaucrats would have a great impact on the reduction of all taxes.

If the beast continues to be fed, it will eventually crush the country and our freedom.

We either rein in government, dramatically reduce it's size and scope and stop it's march to tax, control and regulate everything.....Or eventually America and freedom will be left dead on the floor.

Show no income, file no Form 1040. File no Form 1040, pay no individual health insurance mandate penalty.

Pretty soon there are gonna be an awful lot more plywood shacks in the Idaho panhandle.

New Hampshire (where the organization that made the video is living) is also a haven of liberty. That’s why the Free State Project chose it as their state.

The business of Congress should be conducted, on an annual basis, within a period of time lasting no more than 21 days. That is more than enough time to craft and vote on a federal budget. Special sessions of congress may be called for the purposes of declaration of war... though Congress apparently no longer declares war on foreign states... just on the people who put them there.

Pay every politician minimum wage, severely limit the time they can be in office, put roads, schools, health care, and all other services into the hands of private businesses who do it better and dismantle everything government-owned. Problem solved.

Showing no gross income (or, IIRC less than $400 income) is a tricky feat! You do know that, for purposes of taxation, services or goods received “in kind” are considered income and must be reported at fair market value.

Remember, it is gross income - not adjusted gross income - that sets your requirement to report taxes. So unless you are 100% self-sufficient on your land and can prove utilities and property taxes of under $400, you’ll have to file (if you believe you have to file, that is).
