WASHINGTON The Obama administration is saying that the sinking of a South Korean warship blamed on North Korea was not terrorism, and not enough by itself to put the Pyongyang back on a U.S. terror blacklist.
The State Department said Monday that the March sinking of the frigate Cheonan was a "provocative action" and a violation of the truce that ended the Korean war. But it added that the sinking by a reported North Korean torpedo strike was the act of one state's military against another.

Bombing Pearl Harbor wasn't "terrorism" either, it was an act of war.

No, not an act of terrorism, but clearly an act of war and a violation of the armistice. It should have been met with swift and decisive military force. Instead, the feckless reaction of South Korea and her allies only emboldens the NORKS.

I suppose that Iran is not in the list also because “wiping out Israel from the map” is not enough, right?

For once I agree. It’s not an act of terrorism. It’s an act of war.

Assuming that the sub that fired the torpedo was NK flagged and crewed by NK Navy personnel then technically he is correct. It was an act of war not terrorism. Terrorism requires that the perpetrators be out of uniform.
Of course the fact that another country commits an act of war and nobody seems to get particularly upset about it is a completely different matter.

I would have to agree.
The sinking was nothing but an ACT of WAR.

This is so absurd and such a non- American response, Im not even sure what to say. But I do know one thing, we just invited another sinking or worse maybe even the downing of a passenger airline flying innocently between Japan and Seoul. And the blood shed will be on Obamas hands.
To: NormsRevenge
So it is an act of war, but the US will not back S Korea in any putative war. Allies come. Allies go. Peace, man.

It was not terrorism...it was a blatant act of war and should be treated as such by both S. Korea and the U.S.
There should be a disproportionate response where the S. Korean Navy (which is very modern and very capable) assisted by the U.S. Navy takes out three or four of N. Koreas best frigates and or submarines...plain and simple. You hit us, we will absolutely pound you.
But this Marxist President of ours will give them a pass...because he does not want to ruffle the feathers of the N. Korean Marxist or the Chinese.
