What Gen. McChrystal said "crosses the line of insubordination and it crosses the line of the military code of justice. He has challenged the commander-in-chief and legally, morally, ethically and professionally he ought to be canned."

My dh commented recently that alot of the casualities are Army, not Marine. He said it indicates that the troops are not on the move, just sitting still as targets. McCrystal may have expressed his frustration privately with no response from Obama and the other politicians.
If 80% of the military agrees with McXtal then he needs to fire them also and find some new recruits.
My only question is..who invented the current ROE? McXtal or the WH?
And if they were active military, American Heros.
A soldier takes an oath to the Constitution not to the President. That being said, you are correct, if he’s got a problem with order, resign and take your gripes to the press and public.
McChrystal can do a lot more damage out of the military then he can in. A bunch of interviews and a good book will go a long way to take care of Zero.
So the oath is in fact an oath of duty to the office of the Presidency, insofar as the individual serving that role is fulfilling his Constitutional duty and issuing lawful orders.
“Both were meglomaniacs who had Caesar complexes.”
You are absolutely correct. Except, McCelland would not fight.
Unfortunately, you are correct, but I have never seen the disdain for any president by the troops as I have since zero was elected.
What would this witch know about being insubordinate? /sarc
Oh, great. Like I really want a biased media news reader setting combat policy for my Marine son in Afghanistan.
Being televised does NOT impart any special knowledge or wisdom. Maybe this is why we have to endure so much of Obama on TV? If we hear enough, we’ll actually think he’s smart? Maybe he needs to adopt a cultured, British accent...
Excuse me, but didn’t Obama already throw this guy under the bus a while back? Something to do with needed troops.
The important thing is *why* McChrystal did this. Don’t for a second assume he just blurted this out. He wanted it to be said, and said in a national print forum that would be widely read, would not be suppressed or severely edited, and would have high credibility on the political left.
And he knew he would be fired because of it. And also notice that his staff know that they are going to be fired as well.
‘The article, titled The Runaway General, appears in the magazine later this week. It contains a number of jabs by McChrystal and his staff aimed not only at the President but at Vice President Biden, special envoy Richard Holbrooke, Karl Eikenberry, the ambassador to Afghanistan, and others.’
Remember the Bush TXANG faked documents? That LTC and warrant officer were praised by the SRM, even after they were known fakes.
Finally. 0bama found some ass to kick!
It certainly was not the hat salesman who was soft on Communism.
RE: The oath is not only to the Constitution, it is to obey the lawful orders of the officers assigned over you and the POTUS
Officers swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and not to POTUS. In Nazi Germany the military swore an oath to Hitler and not to Germany
So, what you are saying, in effect, is that the military should follow orders blindly, as they did in the German army in WWII, regardless of the legality or the harm the orders do to the military. Over and above what the Officer owes to the CIC is what he owes to his troops. He should have spoken directly to the President and if that failed then he has every right nay, a duty, to speak out openly against the President against what he sees as harmful orders and policies. He will most likely lose his job in doing so but the people will be warned.
BTW, I think McA should have gone ahead and bombed the crap out of North Korea and the Chinese troops screaming down towards the south as he proposed. Truman was wrong, as history has well proven. Korea's cease fire is the reason we had to fight in Vietnam.
The entire article is bullroar and the author shows to the world a massive incompetence in his material. Any officer or enlisted man has the right to pass a contrary opinion up the chain of command to be considered by his superiors. We do not want automatons commanding our military personnel in the field. We want original thinkers who are willing to improvise and get the job done in the face of tremendous difficulties.
Choose good personnel, tell them what you want them to do and let them get on with the job. Any person in Washington, DC has not the slightest idea what is going on in the field. That is why one has field commanders. If the field commander sees a problem he has the responsibility to get the policy changed.
Looking over 12,000 miles and scores of years, one does not have to be a professional military to know the our personnel are operating under terrible (if not criminal) rules of engagement.
The other problem which no one will touch is that Obama, under the Constitution, is not elgible (and certainly qualified) to be President of the United States or Commander in Chief. May God have mercy on this country. When a country has poor or incompetent leaders the people pay the price in blood.
Obama needs to be impeached, tried for treason and shipped to Gitmo to rot with his muslim buddies.
As terrible as 2.5 more years under this thuggish regime will be, the problem is not an America-hating narcissist in our White House. The real issue is parasitic voters who think spreading other people’s wealth around is a good thing, the voters who don’t understand that wealth has to be created by the people they are stealing from. We need to keep this evil thug in power for the full four years, so that his voters will learn from their mistake. Otherwise, they’ll eventually do it again. The next time might be with a competent socialist (and they do exist, even if they are rare), and that would be even worse than the clown we have now.
