WASHINGTON — A White House spokesman says the whole country benefits when President Barack Obama takes time to go golfing and "clear his mind."
Obama spokesman Bill Burton on Monday defended Obama's leisure activities amid some Republican criticism that Obama should not be scheduling fun time during the Gulf oil spill crisis. The president went golfing on Saturday afternoon after attending a baseball game Friday night.
Burton said the people of the country stand by the notion that "their president ought to have a little time to clear his mind."
Burton said that having time to himself "probably does us all good."

He was unaware that he was family friends with, and started his political career in the living room of, a domestic terrorist, William Ayers.
He was unaware that he had invested in two speculative companies (AVI, Skyterra) backed by some of his top donors right after taking office in 2005.
He was unaware that his own aunt was living in the US illegally.
He was unaware that his own step brother lives on pennies a day in a hut in Kenya.
He was unaware of the AIG bonuses that he and his administration approved of and signed into a bill.
He was unaware that the man he nominated to be his Secretary of Commerce was under investigation in a bribery scandal.
He was unaware that the man he nominated to be his Secretary of Health and Human Services was a tax cheat.
He was unaware that the man he nominated to be his Secretary of the Treasury was a tax cheat.
He was unaware that the man he nominated to be the U.S. Trade Representative was a tax cheat.
He was unaware that the woman he nominated to be his Chief Performance Officer was a tax cheat.
He was unaware that the man he nominated to be #2 at the Environmental Protection Agency was under investigation for mismanaging $25 million in EPA grants.
There are people in comas that are more aware of world affairs than this guy.

Actually, the country DOES benefit by Obama golfing, because every minute he spends there is one less minute that he can do something destructive, or even prepare for the upcoming elections.
If he & the Democrats want to sleepwalk into an electoral buzzsaw in November, I say DON’T WAKE THEM UP!!

Clearly they’ve never played golf.Mountain biking may clear your mind. Swimming laps may clear your mind. But trying to get on the green in two when your tee shot has gone onto the next fairway is not conducive to reducing stress.But the again, clearing Obama’s mind may only need a swifter, not a vacuum.
Let him play all the golf he wants in Kenya.

Well, I can't even afford a decent BBQ - let alone any of the others, so I really but really am grateful he does all this for me - and he can have all my arugula to - please.

No. Yachting in an indulgence of the idle rich, while golfing is a sport for heroes. (More people die golfing than die sailing)
