WASHINGTON A White House spokesman says the whole country benefits when President Barack Obama takes time to go golfing and "clear his mind."
Obama spokesman Bill Burton on Monday defended Obama's leisure activities amid some Republican criticism that Obama should not be scheduling fun time during the Gulf oil spill crisis. The president went golfing on Saturday afternoon after attending a baseball game Friday night.
Burton said the people of the country stand by the notion that "their president ought to have a little time to clear his mind."
Burton said that having time to himself "probably does us all good."

Aren’t we the lucky ones. No jobs, worrying about putting food on the table, wondering if we can make the rent, and he’s having fun on our behalf.

Incredible indeed. Can you imagine an article like this being written about George W. Bush?
Neither can I.

CNN: ""After a week where the president was taking on the oil spill; got a historic agreement with BP to put aside $20 billion to pay claims; after a day on Friday when he strengthened lobbying and ethics rules in the White House; after going to Ohio to talk about the economy and see the progress that is being made in some of those stimulus projects that are happening around the country; all the different issues that the president is dealing with, I think that a little bit of time to himself on Father's Day weekend probably does us all good as American citizens that our president is taking that time," said Burton."

Yes, my wife and I were just talking about how much Obama’s golfing has benefited us.
He should golf everyday.

I suppose they’ll defend Tony Hayward’s yacht race for the same reasons?

I think he just doesn’t give a rat’s butt about anyone but himself. Any person with a conscience couldn’t even sleep well knowing his fellow citizens were going through the crisis’ we are enduring. He is living the high life from our work. Reminds me of French aristrocracy — dining on great food with gold glasses of wine while the regular folks starve to death in the streets. I am waiting for Michelle to say “Let them eat cake”.

I suppose theyll defend Tony Haywards yacht race for the same reasons? Especially since he is no longer in charge of the cleanup

I suppose theyll defend Tony Haywards yacht race for the same reasons? Rahm was all over the place slamming hayward while 0bama was slacking off. Libs are liars or hypocrits, usually both.

At least, Mr. Hayward was spending time with his son, BO was away from home and his girls, playing golf with the VP

the whole country benefits when President Barack Obama takes time to go golfing For once I have to agree.
Can we maximize the benefits by having Bammy stay out of the White House permanently and go golfing 24/7?

Has anyone done a side to side comparison of the recreational activities Hayward and zero since the oil spill began?
I’ll bet zero has played a ton of golf whereas Hayward has probably gone sailing only a couple of times. So does this mean that zero should be even more despised than the BP CEO?

OH! I understand now.
I feel so guilty faulting him for fiddling - ah, golfing/games/BBQ-ing while the Gulf burns and people are losing their business, their jpbs - forever. Here I was thinking he just wasn't about to let a little thing like the worst environmental disaster in our history get in the way of his fun times.
And here, all along, he was doing it for us.
Oh the sacrifice...
Bless “The Won.” (NOT)
(BTW, why is there a need to clear and already empty head?)

A White House spokesman says the whole country benefits when President Barack Obama takes time to go golfing and "clear his mind." We'd benefit tremendously if he'd just quit now and go golfing for the rest of his days!
