I saw Segovia play with an orchestra in ‘79. His animations while playing were highly entertaining.

“Ah, it was Roy Clark. Believe it or not; he and Glen Campbell could play just about anything. They just plain gifted.”
Yes, indeed. Two of my favorites.

Glad to see Hendrix as #1.
He’s been dead for decades, and he’s still ahead of his time.
I’m serious.

Here's my other problem with this list -- IT IGNORES A LOT OF LATIN AMERICAN GUITARISTS who are arguably some of the most versatile players in the world.
What the heck is Neil Young doing in the list ? Look don't get me wrong, he's a great musician, but what has he shown regarding guitar virtuosity to merit being on this list?
On the other hand JOSE FELICIANO, a very versatile who can play almost all types of genres is left out...
Then there's the great Brazilian virtuoso, Laurindo Almeida, who can play Classical, Chamber, Bosa Nova, Flamengo, Pop and even Jazz. This man won several Grammies for his work and should be included among the greats.

Good call on Roy Clark. He's vastly underrated.
My top two are (in no specific order):
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jimi Hendrix

Ill have to check him out. By all means, do. He is the only "rock" guitarist on my list. But he is so much more. I just saw him last month and he is at the top of his form.

Never saw Segovia, but I did see Julian Bream in London. Saw Gilmour live on his About Face Tour as well...
This list is a joke.

Oops, I made a mistake. It was Carlos Montoya I saw, not Segovia. I get them mixed up. Must be the Espanol.

Glad to see Frank Zappa, hope to see Dweezil in there some day.
As for Bromberg, he is a master, saw him once, glad he is back recording and playing again.

That was my thought, as well. Most people have never heard Leo Kottke. His skill and mastery of the guitar should put him in the top 10.
There are a lot of rock guitarist on the list, and maybe that is what was intended, top 50 most popular, rock guitarists.
