The Last Straw

Leadership: FDR said we had nothing to fear but fear itself. JFK asked what we could do for our country. Now we can add Obama's whine about the disaster in the Gulf: "I can't suck it up with a straw."

'Even though I'm president of the United States, my power is not limitless," the president told Grand Isle, La., locals in a video released Friday. "So I can't dive down there and plug the hole. I can't suck it up with a straw. All I can do is make sure that I put honest, hardworking, smart people in place . .. to implement this thing."

If only that were true. We have the secretary of the interior caught in a lie about experts endorsing a six-moth moratorium on offshore drilling that will do more damage to the Gulf economy than the Deepwater spill itself.

Has anyone seen the FEMA director in the Gulf or on the side of a milk carton? Where is Energy Secretary Chu? Off polishing a solar panel somewhere perhaps?

Speaking of the moratorium, the Obama administration now expects offshore oil rig workers who lose wages as a result of the administration's moratorium on deep-water oil and gas exploration to be reimbursed by BP, White House spokeswoman Moira Mack said last week. That is just goofy. How is British Petroleum responsible for government-mandated layoffs?

You'd think the administration could have found out there is a company in Maine able to produce 90,000 feet of containment boom a day. Why was the incident commander, Adm. Thad Allen, unaware of that fact until ABC's Jake Tapper made him aware of it in an interview?

Obama is judge, jury and executioner now.
Apparently, we no longer need a judiciary when we have him.

(The fact that the courts have been left out has really, really upset me. It means this isn’t the same country any more.)

Obamarama doesn't know any Honest, hardworking, smart people. Truthfully, true Honest, hardworking, smart people probably would not work for obamarama.

Um, because Obama hates the Brits? Notice he always says “British Petroleum” even though their name really is BP now after their merger with Amoco. Even that’s all about the politics.

That, and he’s probably too stupid to understand the business structures (called “contracts”) involved at even a most basic level.

/with this was sarc, it’s not

How articulate. How Presidential. What an epic failure. Old Jimmy Carter has moved out of last place.

He could have had 14 other countries working to hold down the spread of the oil if he had signed a waiver for the Jones Act., but he didnt and still hasn’t.

Doesn’t it depend on who is insured for what and what is in writing between the contractor and the subcontractor?

If he would stop enjoying the sound of his own voice long enough to stop talking I would wager he could suck the oil out of the gulf with one inhale.

How about dropping the stupid EPA law against shallow drilling? So we won’t have train wrecks a mile under water that no one can fix? He has let this run for a reason, he intends to use it to change our lives like 9-11 changed how we board airplanes.

You and I are on the same wavelength.

I’ve noticed this pattern with obama since he started spouting off about trying terrorists in civilian courts. there is something about his mentality that screams banana republic. I have not yet figured out if it is out of incompetence/apathy, or purely intentional testing of the american public/media loyalty to him.(aka hitler-ish thuggery)

If he is testing our loyalty and trying to flush out the ones that aren’t and gird up the ones that are...we are in serious doo-doo. That is a fight to the death, and it might not be his.

Awww, give the creep a break- he’s showing his true colors: look for an ass to kick and a boot to keep on someone’s throat cuz he can’t suck it up with a straw.

He is such a d-bag.

Seems Obama’s M.O. is keeping the opposition in crisis while he moves on to the next issue. The community organizer irritates, aggravates and incites to hatred both sides against each other. Then he steps in as the answer to the problem. He wants to be a hero. He wants to solve the problems he created.(We saved the country from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression!-Obama)

Those who can think logically, reasonably, rationally know the truth. The truth is our greatest weapon.

BP is an easy target. There are other players that may get off if the rule of law is once again kicked to the curb.

First they came for BP,
but my business was not oil.

When they come for the trucking companies,
who will speak for Me?

“there is something about his mentality that screams banana republic.”

That’s about the highest level achievable by modern revolutionaries.
It seems really big presidents have been able to ask previos administrations for advice. On any given day one might have been able to shake hands with no less than a half dozen people roaming the Bush White House, that knew the people and the way to stop, deter, and clean up the spill.

That’s exactly right. Then he creates a crisis with the next issue. It is a vicious circle with damage being done the whole time. One problem can’t be solves because the next problem gets in the way. I hope that makes sense.
