Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.) on Monday apologized for behaving aggressively during a confrontation on the street with a young man who claimed to be a student.
"I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved," he said in a statement released by his office.
A video of the incident, in which Etheridge can be seen swatting at a camera and grabbing the young man by the coat collar, appeared online Monday morning.
"Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina," Etheridge said, "I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse."

Okay, I give up, what does that mean?
No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response.
Translation: the guys who questioned me are intrusive and partisan and are ultimately at fault.

Exactly! That’s what he’s saying. He was provoked, so it’s not really his fault.
Pieces of Eight? Don’t cash your Freedom’s in for Gold !! Man did you ever listen to that album? Those are the lyrics, of course, I’m about a big of Styx fan as you’ll ever find.
This is them back together, they sound exactly the same live as they do in studio, rare ...

An arrest is appropriate for an assault
I'm guessing you're not Irish then. :-)
This is what is happening to the USA now.
“I dont understand the passivity of conservatives, either young or old, who allow themselves to be manhandled or assaulted by deranged leftie socialist demoRATs.”
There was no passivity here. The kids behaved wonderfully. If they had beaten the snot out of this jerk, they would have been thrown in jail. And videotaped evidence? This is DC we’re talking. It would have gone missing faster than you can say “hope and change.”
Sometimes turning the other cheek really is the better strategy. Sometimes you have to take some damage to win.
“We can simply ask that he be treated the same as any other Joe that did the same thing.”
Amen.
“We have NO RULING CLASS.”
I wish it was that way, but it’s pretty clear that there are two sets of rules.
We have to return our country to one set of rules for everyone.
Return to elected officials, government agents, and law enforcement
recognizing that they work for US, they answer to US,
and not the other way around.
From your lips to God’s ears...
Why would you beat up a guy holding a gun to his own head? These students did fight back. In their own time, in their own way. The students' restraint was far more effective than the method you suggest. The video shows the clearcut, one-sided nature of this assault. Etheridge only wishes they'd have bloodied his nose. He's not going to heal from his own, self-inflicted blow.
Government and these arrogant people running it are completely out control..
As long is there is a (D - ) before your state name, you’ll be fine.
It’s pretty hard to avoid realizing which party employs violence on a regular basis.
I should add, if a Republican had done this, WE would be the first ones demanding he get the hell out of Dodge.
That, along with the statement, “no matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become,” is a dagger embedded in an “apology.” For Pete’s sake, the kid merely asked if the Rat supports B.O.’s agenda. You’d think the touchy, thin-skinned, bleary-eyed rep would be PROUD to say “Yes.” Right?
I made use of your picture on my blog:

Nice work!
It pretty much sums up the incident.
