Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.) on Monday apologized for behaving aggressively during a confrontation on the street with a young man who claimed to be a student.
"I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved," he said in a statement released by his office.
A video of the incident, in which Etheridge can be seen swatting at a camera and grabbing the young man by the coat collar, appeared online Monday morning.
"Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina," Etheridge said, "I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse."

At least this one has the sense to apologize without using some weasel phrase like “if anyone was offended.”

Like an appology is supposed to make us all over look that fact you are a complete asshole.

He’s really sorry for only ONE thing...that he was taped and he got caught. Everything else is BS.

Nevermind that I hate my constituents, and people in general, except for one or two local hookers and a few bartenders here and there, I will try to be nice if I absolutely must confront the lower orders.

Translation: the guys who questioned me are intrusive and partisan and are ultimately at fault.
Sigh. He hasn’t quite mastered the apology has he?
What he should do is offer to let the kid do a proper interview in his office or at a good restaurant If you are going to eat crow, then do it right.
