(NC) Dem Congressman Goes Nuts When Asked if He Supports the “Obama Agenda”; Attacks Students– Video

Here is shocking video of North Carolina Democrat Rep. Bob Etheridge being asked by some students on a public sidewalk in Washington, D.C. if he supports the Obama Agenda. Once he realized the students were asking him that question, he went bonkers. Etheridge hit their camera and then grabbed one of the students by the arm as he repeated over and over Who are you, Who are you? Tell me who you are? The students identified themselves as such, but Etheridge persisted. At one point he then grabbed the student whose arm he had been holding onto and pulled himself up beside himself with his arm wrapped around the student. The student repeatedly asked the Congressman to let go of my arm.
There is no scenario under which this kind of behavior is acceptable. Etheridge represents the 2nd District in North Carolina, and faces a tough re-election battle. This video ought to seal his defeat. Its time for voters to say to Etheridge, Who are you to treat people like this?

It is better to do as the young fellow did though, the congressman appears to be a possible alcoholic and may in fact have brittle bones. Knocking or throwing him down might send him to the emergency room and garner him all sorts of sympathy.
Of course I might have reacted the wrong way myself in that instance. He appears to be a tall thin man, probably close to my height and eighty to a hundred pounds lighter. If he grabbed my arm like that all I would have to do is just walk into him and drive him into the dirt. He did a very foolish thing, grabbing a young man that way, even someone much smaller could have hurt him severely.

Saw it on Drudge near the top of the page. He should face criminal assault and battery charges.

I think the Congressman was just taking the President literally on the subject of kicking people’s asses.

I agree with you. The students acted perfectly and with restraint. There is no way that anybody (left or right) can watch that video and come away having decided a verdict on who was in the wrong. This representative has undone himself with this. It might takes weeks or months to completely play out, but somebody might as well stick a fork in him because he's DONE.

Someone please ask Sissy Matthews for his take on this Violent Elected Democrat assaulting a young college kid.

There is a time to throw a punch, and a time to smile because you have already won. The kid showed the wisdom to know the difference. He traded the short term satisfaction of breaking Ethridge's nose for the long term satisfaction of ending his run in congress. That sort of self control and dedication to the mission is a trait that makes a great leader.

The really ironic thing is that Etheridge could have made light of the encounter and given them no ammunition. As a representative, one would think that he does indeed know how to do this. I mean, think about it... he's a Democrat politician, so it should have easy for him to just smile and lie through his teeth while enjoying the entire encounter. But fortunately for us, the malicious old bastard got mean and nasty at the onset and now it will go viral and show him and his ilk what they're really like. ...dumbass. :-)

Im a conservative but dont see a problem with Ethridges behavior. He wasnt angry. It was like a grownup correcting a child and teaching him a lesson. I admire Ethridge for doing what he did as I think it was constructive. This has got to be the craziest, stupidest, most obnoxious post on this thread.

... Oh, that small corner of Raleigh that's included, not exactly what you would call a major vacation destination for anyone who likes to keep their wallet, purse or anything else of value... Wow...that sounds like DC when Congress is in session. I know of a guy getting assaulted in broad daylight and having his cell phone taken right from his hand!

He should be charged with assault. As a Dem Congressman, he won't be charged with assault, but asked to gracefully resign.

Well said. I wish I knew who these students were. If I could find out, I'd send them some gift cards for a good steakhouse in their area at a MINIMUM.

Re: I don’t see problem with Eth’s behavior.
The story is not complete yet. We have to see Eth’s response, nor the reporter’s for that matter. Eth is too smart to do anything public that doesn’t serve him in some way.
There’s a tendency of some posters to overract to a minor event, not because of the event itself but because of which side the participants are on. I would like those individuals to make their tagline “I am immature”.
