Two Iranian ships intended to head for Hamas-controlled Gaza are waiting for their government's approval to challenge Israel on the high seas, escorted by "volunteer marines" that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to send "to teach Israelis a lesson."
An Iranian Red Crescent official said the two ships are waiting for the Iranian foreign ministry to give the green light for launching, according to the French news service AFP, quoting the Iranian Mehr news service. The Red Crescent said a third ship probably would join the fleet.
Red Crescent official Mojtaba Majd also claimed that more than 100,000 Iranians have signed up to board the ships, but only those with "expertise" would be accepted. Majd did not define the area of expertise required.
Ali Shirazi, the Revolutionary Guards's spokesman for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said it was "Iran's duty to defend the innocent people of Gaza."

Iran will keep provoking, through its surrogates in Gaza and Lebanon and Syria until Israel strikes back. By that time Iran hopes to have a few bombs so that use of Israel's nuclear weapons would invite a devastating nuclear response.
Israel has to strike Iran before they have a bomb. If they don't, they are in for a perpetual war they can't win. Look for this to come to a head this summer or fall at the latest.
What is Hussein going to do about it? He will wring his hands. Maybe call in a group of "experts" for a seminar. Hopefully he will just stay out of Israels way.
Everyone of thsoe Iranian ships should be towing a smallflotilla of life rafts, IMHO.But the whole lot of them will never get closer than 20 miles to the Israeli coastline, even IF Obama orders the US NAvy to escort them in violating Israeli Sovereignty.
“Hole the ship hulls. Small shaped charges would lead to the ships sinking slowly. Likely without loss of life.”
Sink them fast making sure they all die!!!
Bet it doesn’t happen....
Exactly - be ready for the torpedoes to fly - Thanks for your “new approach”, Zero!
What’s most sad about all of this, is that these people in Iran mostly do not have access to the truth, and their Mad Mullahs keep a strangle-hold on the population (literally with all the hangings they have...).
As for the guy with the Red Crescent — sure 100,000 signed up... More likely that was the amount of troops that Ahmadinejad pledged to the mission.
The Persians should take this opportunity to strike at the regime before the Mullahs get a lot of folks killed.
I’ll be praying for all who want true peace - and that God will open the eyes of those who don’t.
I stand with Israel.
Need to be more specific on which “Monkey Boy administration”. It ain’t like these days there’s only one. Amanutjob, Chiapet, Hugo, Fidel, Lula..... wait a minute nobama has to fit in there too.
Something tells me that wouldn’t have the same result.
I warned my daughter and her friends about this possibility. That with all of Obama’s desire for a ‘civilian police force’ that he’d turn it into a draft before long, and simply require kids to be indoctrinated and work for the ‘the State’ for a year or two... I don’t think it would take much for Obama to want to ‘thin the herd’ more, by drafting them into the REAL Military and sending them out with ridiculous ROEs.
China is probably itching to ‘get rid’ of a few hundred thousand men for whom there are no wives to be found, too. But China and Russia will prod along the problems in the Middle East for a little while, first... Why lose all your own people when there are other idiots around willing to die for theirs, and it still accomplish your goals of bringing down the US and her allies (and the Commies, I’m sure, view the Islamics as weak in a lot of ways and I’m sure they plan on being able to overtake them after the US is out of the picture).
At least that’s my take on things... Any way you slice it, it’s all bad.
Do not be surprised if the Iranian ships are almost entirely occupied by women and children hoping for an Israeli attack while the Iranians are broadcasting live High-Resolution streams to the world. Israel’s choices for a response might not be as simple as it appears. Iran could incite millions to demand war in countries who are trying to not get involved, appear to be the “wronged” party, have their “excuse” to retaliate etc. I believe there are powers and principalities much higher in rank than the puppet head of Iran at work here.
Mine the waters they intend to “flotilla” through. Make it common knowledge.
I was just thinking that it would be better to disable or remove the props. Nothing more boring than watching a big metal boat sit there and do nothing. It is just conceivable that the Israelis are going to let the Iranians “escort” the flotilla to the port and do nothing. Then while in port sink all of them dockside. Big cement bomb should just about do the trick of punching a hole in the boat without exploding and killing sailors on board.
Here's the one I was thinking of...
I have rolled this over for three hours and concluded that the vessels should be allowed within 10 kilometers or so, well within Israeli (Gaza) waters and then taken out with a drone.
Alternatively, the vessel should be allowed to dock and passengers to disembark and then let a drone take it out.
It is time for some popcorn...
Ships of fools.
I want the sorry ass of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad among those escorting the flotilla. Then I want his sorry ass feeding sharks.
Make sure there is no one on board and blow the ships up in the middle of the night before they leave the dock. That would make people think twice before deciding they want to run a blockade.
Don’t claim responsibility and with no loss of life it sends a very strong political message. “We can hit you anywhere at anytime.”
“...said it was “Iran’s duty to defend the innocent people of Gaza.”’
It is Iran’s duty to die trying to defend the Philistine usurpers. Gaza is a part of Israel and does not belong to the Pali-Wogs.
