A Ban On Truth

Energy Policy: The advisory board on offshore drilling says it never endorsed a moratorium, which was added later by the interior secretary. The only thing transparent about this administration is its lies.

Experts brought together by the Obama administration to review offshore drilling safety were asked to review recommendations in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. They did not give their blessing to the six-month drilling moratorium announced by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and have accused him of deliberately appending their report to make it seem like they did.

According to the New Orleans Times Picayune, Salazar's May 27 report to the president said the seven experts "peer reviewed" his recommendations, including a six-month ban on drilling in waters deeper than 500 feet. The experts say the report they reviewed suggested stopping only new drilling in waters deeper than 1,000 feet.

The reviewers for Salazar's report were provided by the National Academy of Engineering. Their joint letter says that while they agreed with the report's various safety recommendations, "we do not agree with the six-month blanket moratorium on floating drilling. A moratorium was added after the final review and was never agreed to by the contributors."

One panelist, Bob Bea of the University of California, Berkeley, said in an e-mail: "Moratorium was not a part of the ... report we consulted-advised-reviewed." The academy's Ken Arnold was less subtle, saying: "The secretary should be free to recommend whatever he thinks is correct, but he should not be free to use our names to justify his political decisions."

God bless,

This administrations attempt to get control of the press cycle and media coverage with these grand standing hearings, moratoriums, and Obama’s kneeling at a blob of oil on the beech is getting disgusting.

They are desperate to “show action” and show that they are “in charge and control” of the situation, which they are not. So they are flopping around just doing $hit that doesn't even make sense anymore, not even to a naive bystander that has no clue! What the Fu%$ is a six month moratorium going to accomplish? Nothing! Well, maybe it'll give Obama more time to have more meetings, press conferences, special panels to study the diameter of the plume, and to talk tough on TV about kicking @ss or putting his foot on peoples neck. What a buffoon! This guy is pathetic, at what point will America just look at him and start laughing? The Iranians are!

Some of it might be senseless, but a lot of it is deliberate. The EPA stonewalling of the Texas refinery for example, the Senate just vote to not overturn that today. That means EPA can keep a refinery shut down over the objections of Texas who are complying with the law. The refinery is owned by Koch Industries, an enemy of leftist global warmers.

Anybody who gets even remotely involved with the Zero administration for any reason must watch their six - they'll be sure to get more than they bargained for every time.

It doesn’t make sense to a REASONABLE person. To a leftist who has dedicated his life to destroying capitalism, it makes perfect sense.

I believe that 100%.

I know their actions are calculated and planned, but the point I was making is that what they are doing will have no effect dealing with the real issue at hand, an oil leak on the Gulf floor. The actions they are taking are blatant grandstanding and media stunts intended to gain control of this story so they don't seem incompetent, so that the media doesn't run away with the issue formulating their own opinion. The methods they employ are calculated (get ahead of the story, control information, show determination, compassion, talk tough, massive press engagement-dominate the media so that only you're heard, lots of stunts that show “action” i.e. hearings, forming special panels to make studies.....), but what have they done that will make one damn difference, to include an asinine moratorium? Are they going to plug that “Damn hole” with their retarded papers from their studies? lol

I know what you're saying, the media game and political maneuvering is very calculated. But that's the sad reality of Obama, because that seems to be about all he can do in any crisis or with any issue! No leadership, no solutions, just show. Obama epitomizes all form and no function. His Presidency is as vapid in "substance" as his campaign, it's all about his white teeth, thin figure, nice looks and suits, his good sounding speeches, poise....but behind the curtain is a little amateurish boy that has no frigging clue how to be a Commander in Chief, is questionably qualified because of his associations and drug use, and definitely the least qualified and experienced President we had since WWII and possibly ever. Obama is all talk and no action, unless it's a social/race issue, then he feels at home and will have beer summits.

Ban or not, talked to a friend today who just came in. He said they were pulling up pipe, will pull the BOP, and will pull off. Also noted most of the rigs will probably go overseas.

By October...gas will run in the $4.50 range...my humble opinion. At that point...the election for the Democrats will be totally lost...and they can simply gaze at 2012 as a long ways away.

That’s if the one doesn’t dump the reserves into the market to help alleviate the price hike.

A Moratorium on offshore oil drilling is going to destroy the economy of Louisiana especially southern Louisiana, hurt the Texas economy, hurt the U.S. economy and world economy.

All this for what, some oil they say leaked? How many tons of chemicals do people pour down drains, toilets, sinks, drains on streets, etc? I bet any oil that “leaked” if any significant amount did at all is a drop in a bucket compared to the chemicals the population puts in the environment in one DAY.

NONE of that hurts the enviroment not the "oil leak" not the chemicals people pour down the drains , not the tons of trash people produce. The Ocean is miles deep .I live here in Southern Louisiana . I see no oil. I am not worried about any oil. I'm worried these Marxists/democrats in the government/media complex are going to destroy jobs and our economy here where i live in southern Louisiana like they are trying to do country wide with the global warming lie by over regulating industry/capitalism.

The media couldn't destroy oil with the global warming lie so no the liberal media use this “leak” to destroy the offshore oil industry, destroy cities and populations in Southern Louisiana.

This "oil spill" is nothing just like the global warming lie was nothing but the liberal media makes both out to be the end of the world. Funny that people still believe the media after we had the coldest winter proving global warming a lie. What happened to all these threats the media was talking about swine flu, global warming, toyota brakes, cell phones causing brain cancer, cell phone talkers driving cars, salt, mcdonalds fatty food, steroids, cigarretes, sars etc? All of a sudden these world threats are not worthy to be talked about only bp bp bp bp. They are not worthy to be talked about because they were not threats but lies of the media. The media couldn't destroy oil with the global warming lie so now the liberal media use this “leak” to destroy the offshore oil industry, destroy cities and populations in Southern Louisiana.

They are not doing anything because liberals only know how to complain about things. They are, as a group, political backseat drivers.

"A Ban on Truth"!

Now, what an intriguing headline!

Without reading past the headline, the thought must have occurred to some that this article had to do with the Far Left's banning of the Source of truth and wisdom from places of so-called "public education."
