First post ever. I would like to suggest that those who get so annoyed at repeat breaking news posts try to chill a bit and remember that there are four time zones in the U.S.. Also people in other countries check in for news.
I am in Alaska and by 6:00 am my time it is already 10:00 on the East coast; so what some Freeper addicts may have seen before is new news to us in Alaska.
So be kind and don't get so annoyed; there are way more important things to get wound up about.
What annoys me about multiple duplicate threads is: In order to reap all my richly deserved adulation, I have to keep reposting my pithy well-articulated comments multiple times! It’s not me I care about so much as my adoring fans!
If you just get up everyday at 2am, problem solved.
Or if the rest of us just sleep 4 more hours.
I’m sure there are many other solutions.
I agree and it’s helpful to have certain topics and threads repeated for those who are away from their desk for long periods of time during the day.
But why does that kill you? I come to FR every day, I rarely post a thread and I have NEVER been annoyed at anything anyone has ever posted in my 12 years here. I figure if I am not interested in it, or if I have already seen it, maybe someone else hasn’t seen it or is interested in it. It is of absolutely no moment to me what other people post and I am sincerely puzzled by those who rag on fellow freepers for this kind of stuff. WHY does it matter? HOW does it impact you in such a way that you need to criticize?
I prefer to play with them myself.
I’m only one time zone off from the guy in Alaska, but I’m willing to do my part and sleep another hour. I’m a giver.
I would have already posted an “Already posted” but you already posted it
What can you say? There will always be ‘negative nellies’ out there.
Avoid the nattering nabobs as much as possible. It’s an easy plan to get more enjoyment out of life.
Hey have you see anything yet that Helen Thomas is out?
Never have had a problem with re-posts. But I’m not real fond of First-Post posters that post a vanity lecturing those who are actually active on the board. That’s kind of annoying.
You got it!
Some posters around here need to CHILL OUT!
Or at least check the Breaking News sidebar.

For real.
It amazes me that somone can post a Breaking News article (Helen Thomas Resigning, for instance) and yet not even notice (or care) that - lo and behold - Helen Thomas Resigning has already been posted - along with 5 variations from CBS, ABC, Fox, Etc.
Thailand? ;)
Basically, there are blog pimpers here who post 15 articles a day in order to get hits to their own websites. If you look at their posting history, they post their story and never reply to the thread again.
If it bothers me, then it bothers me. I just don't think it adds to this site. I think the bloggers and personal category should be filled with original works, not rehashes. But, then again, I'm a guest here.
I will ask you then, WHY DO YOU CARE? is your account being charged for each posted thread you have to scroll past? it takes a millisecond to determine whether there is fresh news to be had from a new thread on the same subject matter. IS your time so precious that you resent that spent millisecond?
So very true.
exactly. and apparently the host here isn't so bothered as to make it a posting rule. again, one millisecond to determine who's a blog pimper and hence to be steered cleared of. when you let this sort of minutiae bother you, you are in danger of spending much of life annoyed.
If it is, I'm in love... ;)
Some of these threads just prove how true the article write up is.
I just do not let folks who get worked up get the best of me. Not worth it.
I also think it is okay to have several posts about the same stories, but not the EXACT SAME article. I have noticed FReepers seeming to get upset lately if there are multiple posts about the same subject matter, not duplicate posts.
