Actually it not...there are numerous roads in northern NH with km/miles listed. Same with northern ME.
Or Oregon...
Why the hell is AZ marking in km? That went out with the 70’s.
Nashville had Km and Mi in the late 70’s. They had been removed (Km) a long time ago.

With the lone exception of soda, cola or pop depending where you live.

What a waste of money, putting a mile marker every 1/2 mile. My husband and I drove through there a couple of weeks ago and decided it must have been Obama Federal Stimulus Money, looking for a place to waste it.

Happened yesterday
I-19 open today after bomb scare
NEAR NOGALES - Interstate 19 is open again today after closing for several hours last night because of a suspcious abandoned vehicle.
According to the Department of Public Safety, northbound Interstate 19 at KM 22 near north Rio Rico was closed because of the bomb scare.
It caused major traffic headaches, but the vehicle was towed without incident. DPS says the vehicles appears to be harmless.
I-19 reopened around 12:30 this morning.
W/ just a few redneck friends, and just a few beers, those km signs would all disappear.
Here in Virginia I-95 has markers every 1/10th mile.
Now that there is some big bucks!
I-55 from St. Louis to the Arkansas line has markers every 1/5 of a mile. I, too, thought them a waste of money (they were put up before Obama) until I realized that wherever you are, you can see one. So if you need to call for help you can tell 911 exactly where you are. The signs include the I55 symbol, the direction and the milage.
And off-off topic when I return to California, I am amazed that they don’t have milage markers.

Also to further frustrate the shade tree mechanic some of the nuts and bolts are also metric on American made vehicles.

We have these little verticle white paddle looking things that tell you what county you're in (abbreviated), the highway RTE # and how far from the county line you are in 10ths.
