The President intends to offer Social Security as a sacrificial lamb to entice conservative deficit hawks into a grand bipartisan compromise in which Democrats agree to cut Social Security benefits while Republicans accede to significant tax increases to reduce government red ink.So he expects republicans will agree to cut social security and massive tax hikes?

“Social Security is so deeply rooted in our society”
Unfortunately, yes.
We need to wean off every vestige of socialism. It’s only about 3 real adult generations old.
LOL, now that we’re getting in deeper.

RE :”
Heres word from The Nation Magazine: The President intends to offer Social Security as a sacrificial lamb to entice conservative deficit hawks into a grand bipartisan compromise in which Democrats agree to cut Social Security benefits while Republicans accede to significant tax increases to reduce government red ink.”
The Nation magazine is a liberal rag, but Katrina vanden Heuvel is fun to watch with her whiny preaching. Anyhow, Obama offering elected Republicans SS benefit cuts on Republican voters in return for tax increases on Republican voters benefits doesn't sound like that great a deal. But I am sure Obama will once again claim he “Reached across the isle”.
How about cuts in education funding, welfare spending, federal benefits for homosexuals, GM and AIG bailouts, stimulus spending, and Obama care ??? as well as federal employee pensions instead?

Back last year the only deal was Democrats spend trillions on anything they want. Now the new deal is Republicans can get two sets of voters mad at them, successful tax payers and successful SS recipient’s. That Obama is a prince.
