Much of the equipment and supplies aboard the humanitarian ships for Gaza has been checked and found to be worthless.
The cargo was taken off the boats at the Ashdod port and checked there, in accordance with the Israeli embargo on Gaza. The embargo is an acceptable measure taken between entities that are in a state of armed conflict, as are Israel and Hamas-run Gaza.

It wasn’t about the supplies, it was about the confrontation and public relations.
There is no need for ‘bait’ to have value. It’s only use is to drag a prey in close enough for the kill. Seems to have worked well for this ‘political’ kill
Worthless? Expired meds are better than no meds and old equipment can still still be useful. Sounds like someone is covering their butt.
They should just sink the next few ships, put an end to this game.
Haven’t actually been able to follow this story too closely and don’t know much about maritime law— question: does Israel have the right to board ships in international waters like it did?
Does the US Coast Guard?
The usefulness of the cargo is a tangential issue at best. What is at the heart of the matter is this...
“Does Israel have the right to keep an arms embargo over Gaza?”
If accept that they have that right, then the value of the cargo is immaterial. If you suggest that they do not have that right, then AGAIN the value of the cargo is immaterial.
The principle is that if they allow uninspected ships to unload in Gaza, arms will be shipped to Gaza. The actual presence of arms in this shipment is immaterial to the principle.
If a ship is attempting to run a legal blockade then yes, it is legal to board that ship.
“does Israel have the right to board ships in international waters like it did?”
Let me answer that with a question: does anyone have the right to stop a sovereign nation from enforcing an embargo?
Does anyone have the right to stop the United States from boarding a nork ship headed to Iran?
“maritime law”? enforced by who? in what court?
“Expired meds are better than no meds”
What Are the Dangers of Taking Expired Prescription Drugs?

Expired meds are NOT always better than no meds, and indeed might amount to nothing more than a placebo where people think they are getting the real deal. Pharmaceuticals can and do break down after their expiration date — and some can even lose some of their effectiveness BEFORE the expiration date if it’s close enough. Especially if the medications have been improperly stored, exposed to extreme temps, etc... etc...
Sounds like a scam, frankly... Who donated the money, who purchased the medical supplies, and which “waste” company did they get them from... I’m thinking someone got a nice payday somewhere along the way, and the folks donating think they are actually sending supplies that will help those in Gaza...
I said I don’t know maritime law— so I don’t know.
Another example is aspirin, which past expiration starts to break down into, I think it’s called, ASCETIC ACID which is not good for humans.
” Sounds like a scam, frankly... “
Sounds like a FEMA operation...
Thanks. That helps. Sounds like the stop was justified.
What ships? >:^)
