Video taken by IDF naval boat shows the passengers of the Mavi Marmara, one of the ships in the 'Free Gaza' Flotilla, violently attacking IDF soldiers who were trying to board the ship after having sent repeated requests for the boat to change course.
Large groups of passengers surrounded soldiers and beat them with metal poles and chairs, and threw one soldier over the side of the ship. Some passengers grabbed pistols from the IDF soldiers and opened fire. As a result of the attacks, seven IDF soldiers were injured, and nine of the passengers were killed.
The 'Free Gaza' Flotilla had publicly insisted on their non-violent intentions, however their violent attack on the IDF soldiers was clearly premeditated. They had knives, metal rods, firebombs and other items ready to use.

I agree with that. And, based on the situation with North Korea, I'm not sure that the international community would have raised a fuss. Although, come to think of it, the Israelis are Jews, so if they had sunk the boat, I guess the UN would probably have freaked out.
It’s just like our rules of engagement. If they would let our soldiers go in break things and kill people these battles would be over very quickly and actually less people would be killed/injured. Just like Japan!

But still, even if they had been simply firing paint pellets, how were the people on the boats supposed to know that?
But wait a minute; now I am listening to Al Jazeera's Jamal Elshayyal broadcasting on the deck of one of the lead ships, describing the descending commandos. Clike here to see the video. He never once mentions the fact that they were firing their weapons as they were being lowered onto the deck. How could he have possibly missed that?

Really! Somebody higher up in the IDF should be in trouble for misjudgement. Also, when they saw the troops going down the rope being over-powered, they should have radioed the helicopter to instruct the troops to start going down shooting.
It is my understanding that the IDF had boarded all the other ships in the flotilla without incident. This was the last ship to be boarded.
Experience is a great teacher. The Israeli’s will never again allow themselves to be put into this position. Not good news for the future ‘flotilla’ types.
