In what is developing into a standoff between states and the federal government that could be bigger than gun control or even health care, 17 states have launched versions of Arizona's immigration law, even as federal officials say they may not bother to process illegal aliens caught by the states.
William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, which has been trying to get officials to address the open southern border for years, warned the consequences could be dire.
"Over the last couple days, Obama and the chief of ICE have refused to honor their oaths of office," he said. "Their constitutional requirement is to enforce existing laws. "They've told the American public to go eat cake," he said. His organization is assembling the list of state efforts to emulate the Arizona law, which makes it illegal under state as well as federal law to be in the state without documentation.

That’s the way I read it. Problem is...who can we get to take this to heart and enforce? Democrats most assuredly will not. Republicans are too few (in the state legislature) to even bring it up. Can ‘We The People’ do anything to push this? Any ideas out there?
Well, I fired off letters to my Senator and Assemblyman who are both Repubs. We’ll see if I get a response from either of them.

And yes, a Maryland state senator or delegate is planning to introduce a SB-1070-style law to the legisl00ture.

Hmmm, I’ve never seen that in N.Y., but I don’t live there, do you? Regardless, that is not what the AZ. law does. It’s not a “stop someone on the street and harass them” law, as the MSM would like you to believe.
When looking for the truth, though, look to what the law says, rather than what the MSM and this administration would like you to believe it says.
The AZ. law is about 10 pages in length and prohibits racial profiling.
And hopefully, it’s only one third of the states that will decide to take a stand for themselves! I’d like to see the other two thirds take the similar steps!!
These States are setting forth a good example for the rest of U.S. to follow, State by State!!

Gheen said the states where some form of immigration crackdown is under development include Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and Utah.

It is one thing for a state law to read as this; another for local PDs to actively follow it.
Costa Mesa has voted more than once, going back five years and again last week, to actively do pretty much what Arizona has been in the news for.

Ballot Iniative.
Ballot Initiative is a good idea but have you ever read what you have to go thru to get one on the ballot? Has to be turned in 131 days before election. Collecting over 400,000 signatures and all. It wouldn’t even happen any time soon. And, even if possible to get it all done, when it gets to the Attorney Generals desk, guess what? It can sit there for quite some time.
