17 More States Planning Arizona "Illegal" Crackdown

In what is developing into a standoff between states and the federal government that could be bigger than gun control or even health care, 17 states have launched versions of Arizona's immigration law, even as federal officials say they may not bother to process illegal aliens caught by the states.

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, which has been trying to get officials to address the open southern border for years, warned the consequences could be dire.

"Over the last couple days, Obama and the chief of ICE have refused to honor their oaths of office," he said. "Their constitutional requirement is to enforce existing laws. "They've told the American public to go eat cake," he said. His organization is assembling the list of state efforts to emulate the Arizona law, which makes it illegal under state as well as federal law to be in the state without documentation.

I counted 199 electoral votes for those 17 states plus 10 from AZ. This was using a map for 2012, 270 total votes.

This article is somewhat misleading about Texas at this stage of the process. There are a couple of state legislators that have indicated that they will file bills when the legislature meets in Jan. 2011. We need to hold the state house this coming election to keep the dems from gaining control of it. Currently the gop has a 77-73 margin but has been losing ground each election. The senate is safe at this time. Also we need to keep control of both houses as we have redistricting coming up and for sure we don’t need the dems in control. Let them run to NM and OK like that did last time.

Joe does that governor thing every time the job comes up. He’s a lawman. He just likes to stir the pot about running for governor. Especially when he can get the liberals all riled up. His two favorite hobbies are being a lawman and enforcing the laws. The second is driving the commie libs crazy. The guy is something else. New York City: I recently heard a caller on one of those radio talk shows say something like this about New York City: Police routinely stop people on the street and ask for identification.

I would trust Joe in whatever job he wanted to do, and back him in whatever “frivolity” he chose to inflict upon the liberals.

That caller needs to get off drugs, or is just making it up. They tow cars a lot (not really part of the regular NYPD), and frankly are real heroes going after violent criminals in the bad parts of town. But stopping on the street for ID? Someone "misspoke."

Why is it after one hundred years, since the inception of the word “wetback” which entered the written lexicon in 1920, that hordes of unskilled, illiterate Mexicans continue to illegally enter the United States, through recession and through depression, through boom and bust, generation upon generation and no one, virtually no one asks, why is Mexico so wrong and America so right? What is it that America does so exceptionally well that the Mexicans cannot seem to emulate? Have they no resources like oil and gas? Have they no verdant fields upon which to grow, have they no thousands of miles of coastline, have they enough labor to accomplish anything, have they no ability to teach people, have they no law upon which to build a nation? Why is it that they continually fail, that everything they touch turns to waste? Why is it that their propagandists claim the American southwest was stolen from them and no American makes the obvious response - ‘well if you did have it, it would only be an extension of the human destroying, poverty inducing serfdom that you live in, so thank God America had it - where else could you run to? If this continues to snowball, it’s going to be heap big medicine come November. Just how many states is Obama willing to declare war on? Just how many Americans is he prepared to thumb his nose at? Just how many laws is he willing to refuse to enforce?

This is really great. States standing up to an oppressive federal government against health care mandates, firearm sales restrictions and now illegal immigration. This will surely nationalize the November elections at the state and federal levels. The theme will obviously be a federal government gone rogue and out of bounds.
The American people are tired of being asked to pay more in taxes, while illegals can freely ignore the law.
Second class citizens, yes that would be the US native born and naturalized Americans forced to comply with mandates and laws. No more!

We won’t sweat the paragraphs. Thanks a bunch. California Penal Code, section 834. Fantastic! Yes, this is exactly the post of which I was thinking. I’m no lawyer, but I’d guess that anyone that violates the Penal Code is a criminal. Small wonder this thing is not being talked about. This thing needs to br brought into the light.

Everyone note what it says in the first paragraph. When referring to law enforcement officers in the State of California it says they Shall, not may do these things. Is it just me or does thing already say that California can do the same as Arizona?
