President Obama has decided to use his executive power to order tougher fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks, accelerating the fight against climate change without waiting for Congress, administration officials said Thursday.
Mr. Obama plans to announce on Friday that he is ordering the creation of a new national policy that will result in less pollution from medium- and heavy-duty trucks for the first time and will further reduce exhaust from cars and light-duty trucks beyond the requirements he has already put in place.
Under rules that were eventually formalized last month, new cars have to meet a combined city and highway fuel economy average of 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016. The administration said the new rules would cut emissions of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases by about 30 percent from 2012 to 2016.

Is it 2012 yet?!
Good thing we don’t live in a dictatorship or anything.
Umm how can he declare this unilaterally?
Why doesn’t he just raise it to infinite miles per gallon?
That would save us lots of gas in the long run. :)
He is acting like an elitist dictator. Why hasn't this {expletive} been impeached for abuse of power yet?
Hey....this will be GREAT for the economy! /s
No peaking! Now go to bed. You can open your Utopian Day presents in the morning!
‘O’ can take his E.O. roll it up and use it for a suppository on himself. He's neither a King or a Dictator.
i can not say how i “really” feel
Good thing we dont live in a dictatorship or anything.
The sooner this a$$hat is in the unemployment line, the better.
I thought congress made the laws
I am going to sue my past universities for malpractice in economics education. No one told me that executive fiat was sufficient for economic and technological progress. I was told about the importance of markets for allocation of scarce resources. Perhaps no one ever envisioned someone with the wisdom of our dear leader.
Our dear leader is applying the vice to Congress over carbon taxation. If Congress will not act, then our dear leader will shove it down our throats regardless of the fragile condition of our economy. Our dear leader would make Lenin and Marx blush.
How far does the government go before we all decide to actually, physically do something about it ? How long did it take from words to dry powder ? Just saying.
Why so many in the world think that this is so taboo. Just a little over 40 years ago my grandparents witnessed a revolution, the 80’s saw another one, even in Thailand (even though they might be communist) people are fighting back. So the question again, how far do we LET them push before the world hears our RESPONSE ?
P.S. Back off admin and FBI, CIA, ATF, etc.... I’m just voicing my opinion.
Is he also going to mandate that our new transportation, horses, can’t poop?
I read an Interesting Quote recently, It said:
“In order to be a Socialist, First you must be a Capitalist.”
The point that I took was that in order to redistribute Wealth there had to be some.
The list, ping
