For much of the evening Tuesday, any one of four candidates were in line to win the Republican nomination for the 199th Legislative District seat.
North Middleton Township resident and local attorney Stephen Bloom appears to have emerged victorious in the seven-way Republican primary to earn the nomination.
As of Wednesday morning, all absentee ballots have been included in the results.
Bloom won the 199th race by 284 votes, unofficially, with 2,163 votes. Denny Lebo had 1,879.
The county board of elections will meet at 9 a.m. May 25 to certify ballot results. They will then be sent to the Department of State.
Bloom will now face Democrat Fred Baldwin in Novembers general election. The winner in November will replace Rep. Will Gabig, who opted not to run for a sixth term to the state House.
We knew it was going to be close, the 48-year-old said about the race. Weve been working extremely hard. We knew we had to work hard and get the message out.
Bloom, who was celebrating with friends and family at the Sunnyside Restaurant, said he believes he was victorious because voters in the conservative 199th see him as a good listener and strong advocate in Harrisburg.
Bloom has said he strongly favors returning to a true part-time citizen Legislature, as our founders intended.
I think everyone is ready to cut the size and scope of our government, he said.

Congrats Bro from an old Rep. Nominee from Dauphin County!
A solid GOP district from what I can tell. Looks like you’re headed to Harrisburg next January. Congratulations.
Congratulations! Best of luck in the general!
Yep, it's a fact.
Yes, we have a tailwind heading into November. But I'm not taking anything for granted and will campaign hard.
IBTZ?
Welcome aboard noob!
HURRAH!!!! for you...for FREEDOM! and, of course for FR
A WOO HOO, congratulations, and a BTT!
CONGRATS!
One district at a time, go get ‘em
Congratulations fellow Freeper.
Steven is not a noob. Where are you coming from?
Really? Do you need a tutorial on FR humor that badly? Be careful not to let the moose bite you! It’s hugh and yes I’m series!
Congratulations...couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
FR humor? I don’t see the humor.
TribalPrincess, back in the nineties we used to have FR humor. All we had to worry about in those days was Bill Clinton, so we had plenty of time for joking around. Thanks for coming to my defense, but CSM is just a fun-loving throwback to that bygone era of mooses and bases and hosts in the sun. Everything’s so series now. ;)
Thank you from all of us who signed up later than that, we greatly appreciate your confidence in us(do I need the sarcasm tag or can you figure it out on your own).
With the sarcasm out of the way I would like to congratulate Likelight on his win and hope he pulls it off in November. Wish we had all conservative FReepers in the Senate and the house. Notice the word conservative for some FReepers are surely not.
How can PA have 199 congressional districts?
Congratulations!
You give hope for us other PA residents, that we may be able to turn the tide against freeloaders and their Dem enablers.
