A question for birthers: why Mombassa?
Vanity | Me

Posted on 05/12/2010 8:47:16 AM PDT by curiosity

The origin of modern myths and legends is a side interest of mine, the birther myths among them.

Now I understand why Obama being born in Kenya made it into your belief system, despite it being physically impluasible (requiring around 5 days and five flights, most on propeller planes) and financially impossible (it would have cost about a year of her parents' combined salaries) for Stanley Ann & Obama Sr. to travel there for her to give birth. After all, Obama's Father was from Kenya, so if you are going to make up a myth about Obama being born abroad, what better place than Kenya?

Implausibilty, and even impossiblilty doesn't deter the making of myths if there is a strong emotional reason to believe them, as in this case.

What I don't understand is, of all possible places in Kenya, why make Mombassa the birthplace in your myth? If you look at the map of Kenya, it's on the other end of the country from Obama Sr.'s village, 762 miles away, which would make it a minimum 2 day train ride. Probably longer, since Kenyan trains were very fast in 1961.

I suppose you could argue that there were no hospitals in Obama's village, so they had to travel to a major city. But Nairobi was closer, and more modern.

So why Mombassa? Not only is it completely implausible; I don't see the emotional appeal. Why Mombasssa rather than his father's village? Or why Mombassa rather than Nairobi?

Help me out here, birthers. Why do you reserve this special place for Mombassa in your belief system?

Zzeeman - one of the best posts about this I’ve ever seen.

Pinging a few of you - I’d say the list should be pinged to this comment!

Please read comment 676 and then explain why it’s a good fight to attack those who are fighting against 0bama.

Please ping me when you read it and answer, ‘kay? I’d realy like your reasons why you think it’s a “good fight” to attack freepers who are trying to find out the truth about 0bama’s non-eligibility.

Thanks so much for the ping ... in my disgust with obamanoids, I would have missed this very good post to which you pinged. And perahps that’s part of the strategy of the scum working this issue to try and squelch it. ... But it is so hard to pay attention when FR has a protected species of scum like the after birthers.

I’ve said something similar to zzeeman’s comment, but nowhere near as precise and well written. Just like a flickering match to a blazing torch.

I hope whoever is doing the ping list pings it. People need to see it.

It’s all in the motive, and IMO there are three, possibly with some overlap:

1. They’re just volunteer leftists who love 0bama and hate conservatives.

2. They’re paid hirelings.

3. Some are just Richard Craniums who get their jollies by hassling good freepers.

I doubt if any are solely #3, maybe one I can think of. most are a combination. A very few might be the ones with a foreign wife who want their kid to be able to be president; maybe just one or two. Even then, they’d still have to be tainted with one of the other motives to be the Richard Craniums that they are.

And some have gotten zotted! Don’t give up! Their aggravating and drooling repetitive arguing has brought out great research and knowledge and determination from the White Hats.

Thanks for the ping. That was a good post. I’ve been saying the same things for a couple of years now. It flattens me to see so many conservatives fighting fellow conservatives on a constitutional issue on this constitutionalist website. I came to the conclusion that they aren’t conservatives. They’re republicans. And this is not a republican website.

You may have a good point there, Kevmo. The after-birthers sure don’t come across as conservatives ... why must we shut up when our Constituton is being pissed upon by the affirmative action fraud-in-chief and his commie minions?

I wrote this after the comment above on the other thread, and IMO these people are most of them not even Republicans:

ACK! I AM on that thread.

Brain fog. I re-posted that great comment by zzeeman on another thread and thought I was there...took a wrong turn.

Embarassed emotion.

We have great investigative abilities to discover the oblivious persons like you posting their flimflam here.

Just a thought: don't brag about your "great investigative abilities" to the ONLY guy in the entire 600+ post thread who knew the answer to the thread's topic of where the Mombasa rumor started.

and btw, how was she able to travel the 2,680 air miles from Honolulu to Seattle only a few days after the birth of her baby and where did she get the money for that trip and her new apartment?

So folks blindly accept the plausibility of Ann Dunham making an undocumented 20,000 mile round-trip to a country on the opposite side of the planet that she never visited at any other time in her life...but get all skeptical about a posited 2,600 mile flight a month later to her old hometown in the US? Y'all aren't even attempting consistency any more.

Y’know, a few pages back I took curiosity to task for allowing himself to be distracted from the central question of this thread. So it really shouldn’t surprise me that you’re trying to do it again, because you don’t have an answer.

I posed a simple question to you a few posts back: Do you have any original, pre-Berg justification for suspecting the city of Mombasa?

And your response? “That is a suspected birth city of Obama Jr. in 1961.” I know you’re not dim enough to think that a valid reason for suspecting something is because it’s “suspected.” That’s just circular, and you know it. All you’re doing is evading.

You try to throw the Race Bannon card, but even apart from credibility issues, Race didn’t toss out his story until 15 MONTHS after Berg put “Mombasa” in his Complaint. Noting that somebody shared an unverifiable personal anecdote a year after “Mombasa” entered the narrative is in no way a justification for believing Mombasa for over a year prior to that.

And so rather than address the question, you change the subject. Like you always do. Suddenly instead of writing about Mombasa, you’re making posts about me personally. Or about something I wrote somewhere else. Or about other websites. Or you just start tossing around your standard buzzwords: trolls, Alinsky, Ayers. All in an effort to distract attention away from the simple fact that you can’t justify why people believed “Mombasa” for over a year with no justification at all. To address it is to acknowledge that the belief is built on a nonexistant foundation, so you throw out distractions and hope I’ll bite and others will forget.

Duh that's not the thread's topic, rumor has nothing to do with the topic. Obviously you are reading through your liberal slanted to your agenda glasses. (still) It's people like you who give after-birthers a bad name. Try and stick to facts, not rumors even if you don't like them.

thread topic:

Loren you fall right in line with the other after-birther/non-Constitutionalists who are lost in their own pea sized minds. I will give you credit for knowing how to spell Mombasa unlike the curious one.

In fact this whole thread was created by you seeking the speculation from birthers

No, this thread was created to ask birthers to explain the reasoning behind one of their central beliefs. If somebody asks me why I believe, say, that the Confederate states seceded over slavery, I can respond with quotes and citations, and without needing to resort to sheer speculation.

If you have to speculate to explain your own beliefs, then you're doing something wrong.

On the other hand, when Obama Sr. was flying to Hawaii to study, he was being sponsored by a foundation and was not paying his own way.

Thursday I asked you how many other Kenyans were flying into Hawaii in addition to Obama Sr., see 571!!!

Reading further down looks like you got yourself in some hot water. Now, do Y O U have any proof or evidence that Obama arrived Honolulu by air plane, huh???

Maybe your time would be better spent arguing the Civil war and slavery.

We were asked to speculate “why Mombasa?” and I brought historical facts why Mombasa was logical and possible, but more importantly I brought an open mind, something you have repeatedly failed to do.

Here is another fact that you cannot disprove about Obama, He cannot pass the same sort of security background check a Marine Private needs to get a secret clearance based upon the information he presently hiding from the American Public.
