Sarah Palin Confronted Reporters at Time 100
NY MAGAZINE ^ | Wednesday May 5, 2010 | Daily intel

Posted on 05/05/2010 4:11:31 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

Bill Clinton and Prince may have been at last night's Time 100 gala, but the most buzzed-about guest by far was Sarah Palin (who, by the way, practically sat on her hands after Clinton gave a speech). Photographers, fans, and, yes, reporters like us swarmed her from the second she walked in the room with husband Todd and her 9-year-old daughter Piper. Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann practically jumped her for a photo op — though, granted, they did the same to Betty White.

Ten minutes of complete engulfment later, Piper was clinging to her mother, repeatedly asking if they could "leave already." Todd, for his part, was standing far away, obediently letting Sarah have the spotlight and plotting to help Piper "meet Taylor Swift; that's the No. 1 priority, to make Piper happy."

Sarah, on the other hand, was happy to be in a room with so many reporters — particularly Time's Joe Klein, of whom she is a fan — so she could set the record straight. "I did talk to a couple of reporters already and said that a bunch of stuff that they write is bogus, but we had a great conversation about it and we agreed to disagree on a lot of things," she said. "One thing we can all agree on, though, is how much we respect and want to protect the freedom of the press and we have that in common, so at the end of the day, I think as long as we’re protecting that and not abusing the right — we have to be writing truth — then we’ll get along just fine tonight."

Particularly, she wanted to clear up "the bogus reports about how much money I supposedly make," she said. "I have a business. I run a business with my speaker’s fee."

As if to drive home the point, Palin reiterated her great respect for journalism in her public "toast" to those who influence her, a Time 100 dinner tradition. "I want to make a toast to all at this press event who agree with Thomas Jefferson, who said that our liberty depends on the freedom of the press," she said. "So I want to lift a glass to those who defend that freedom. Our finest, the men and women in uniform who defend that freedom, our Constitution, and our exceptional way of life in America."

As she left the dinner, after watching a performance by Prince, Palin said she'd had a lovely time, both at the dinner and in New York. "Every time I’m here I have to go running in Central Park," she said. "I ran around an hour; I think I ran around the park a couple of times!" Todd told us he'd accompanied her, but could not recall how far Sarah had run in an hour. "You'll have to ask her," he said. "She jogs at a pretty good pace, so I guess a few miles." Who's faster, of the two? "It's not about being fastest. It's about who has the energy and can go the distance," said Todd, patiently standing to the side and watching Sarah, as usual. "One mile is good enough for me."

You are right, she in no fan, but she is civil and polite. According to Klein ...

"On the other hand, Sarah Palin slapped me across the face twice--playfully--and we had a nice chat about our oldest sons, both of whom had returned recently from service in Iraq (hers is a soldier, mine a diplomat). Does this mean that I'll be any more charitable toward her distasteful and ill-informed politics? Nope. But it is valuable to know that she has a sense of humor and civility...and that Glenn Beck doesn't."

"Sarah, on the other hand, was happy to be in a room with so many reporters —"

But, wait! Didn't I read the other day that Sarah is busy dodging reporters?

From the article was this quote.

***"I want to make a toast to all at this press event who agree with Thomas Jefferson, who said that our liberty depends on the freedom of the press," she said. "So I want to lift a glass to those who defend that freedom. Our finest, the men and women in uniform who defend that freedom, our Constitution, and our exceptional way of life in America."***

I love how Palin always turns everything into a praise of our military men and women. She is a real patriot and opposed to phony patriots like Jesse Ventura. As for the Klein matter this is my observation. It seems to me that (and I assume Klein does not have a kid in the military) if a conservative writer who did not serve in the military or did not have any children in the military were to accuse a liberal politician who did have a kid in the military of sedition I think we know what the media would say. The same rules should apply here. Joe Klein is without honor. But thats something we already knew. When liberals trash Palin the way they do they demonstrate that they are totally void of a soul or conscience. But we knew that already too.

****I'm reading Going Rogue right now and am enjoying it far more than I expected. She wrote it, I would bet, and the "ghost writer" was a very good editor. Palin's voice is unique, and the story is hers as she sees it. It's really an adventure that rings true to the core.****

Its amusing that they say Palin did not write her book but then they trash her Facebook posts. How do they know she wrote those?

BTW I read the book as well and loved it.

Regarding Palin’s money we can do a little math here. Just looking at book sales she has sold 2.5 million books. If you calculate that a book costs 20 bucks will 2,500,000 times 20 is 50,000,000. That means thru book sales she has generated $50,000,000 of wealth for her and other people. Plus you figure how many people went to the bookstore to buy her book like me and bought other books there. And then went to other stores in the shopping center and then eat some dinner at the nearby deli like me. The money Palin generated here is huge. So I say at $12,000,000 for the year Palin might a bit underpaid.

On the other side of that coin was Glenn Beck. He kept referring to Klein as Jeff, Jeb, Jim... Whatever. LOL

Sarah’s playing on her field, Glenn on his... But their both playing for the same team - America.

She did. When O’reilly asked her what was the last movie she saw, she said “The Proposal” and that she liked it.

Hey, wouldn’t it be funny if Dave Letterman could make a joke tonight about Piper getting raped? You know, because that Sarah Palin is like, so stupid, you know?

Oh yeah. That would be some great video(under cover if necessary) of the Marines, SEALS et al and their spontaneous reactions from various outposts across the world on election night 2012 when they hear that Sarah Louise Palin has been elected the 45th president of the United States. Just think of watching the guys manning remote, god forsaken outposts in Af-Pak burst out in cheers of relief, joy.

Betty White is not a conservative. She is a classic Democrat from the 1960’s.
