In a major blow to Democrats, House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey has told close associates that he will not seek re-election and an announcement of his plans is expected as early as Wednesday.
The Wisconsin Democrat faces tough poll numbers at home but until Tuesday night his staff had insisted he was running aggressively and had hired campaign staff.

Mr. Obey will be missed...by socialists and appeasers everywhere.
Wow...awesome. Does anyone have the total count of Democrats in the House and Senate who are not seeking reelection?
I’ll send the motion!
“Spending more time with the family” (i.e., “earn” seven figures as a lobbyist) always looks like an attractive option in the face of dreadful poll numbers.
Gimme a Leiney’s !
WooHoo! The “Pit Yorkie” calls it quits!!!
See you later, LOSER!!!
Hahahaha!!!
It’s too bad,though,
because any “new” democrat will have a clean slate
and subsequently higher approval ratings.
How wonderful to have this hideous man out of the congress.
Knows he’s gonna get hammered and stepping aside so a new more middle (but still liberal) democrat can try to keep the seat.
COWARDS AND TRAITORS!
Another Critter taking his campaign funds and running before a defeat.

David Obey has represented Wisconsins 7th congressional district since 1969. (was preceeded by Melvin Laird)
Hilarious. Of course it has nothing to do with the current political climate like all of the other dumbocrats retiring. It just shows they are gutless also. They should all be forced to run and take their medicine, a big loss!!
This is great news, he’s a tool of immeasurable suture; an absolute d-bag.
That is some good news there. It’s a tough, but winnable district (D+3), especially if Superior stays home.
bite the dust!
I'm drinking a keg!
rats going down ... HARD
Just keep up doing what you are doing, recruit the best.
