JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Wildlife officers want to know who shot five federally protected ospreys in Jacksonville and Nassau County.

Four of the birds died and one survived and is being rehabilitated.

Lt. Paul Graham of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the birds have been killed in more than one area.

I've been watching a nest west of town, no one has seen that pair recently. The Eagles nest south of town seems to be abandoned as well. I could joyfully hurt people who do things like this.

In addition to the loss of beautiful birds this can give a bad impression of hunters and fishermen who love natural things and care for them.

Ospreys and eagles mate for life and are devoted to caring for their young

No wonder evil hates them

Yeah, I agree. Ospreys are majestic, and anyone would do this deserves to have the book thrown at them.

I hope they catch the person who did this. The older I get, the more I respect wild creatures. Sadly, the opposite is true for some humans.

Once in a while we get a snowy owl wintering in the sand dunes of coastal Oregon. Some douche usually shoots it.

The outrage! Where were the Imperial Federal Protection Troops for these poor birds?? Why aren’t heads rolling in the Federal Hive?

Enslave the producers of America and enrich the moochers, but forget to protect the birds? How DARE they!

Native American’s, that’s who. Ever wonder where those feathers in the ceremonial head dresses comes from? The Fed’s bust Indian’s here in the NW all the time for trafficking Eagle feathers.

I live on the banks of the Rogue, and I saw the coolest sight the other day.

An osprey caught a fish and was flying away with it in its talons. A bald eagle swept up to it and (I guess) tried to take the fish away.

So this OTHER osprey began flying at the bald eagle and attacking it! It was so cool, both the osprey and the eagle flying at each other, fighting each other...the eagle finally gave up and flew away.

It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in Oregon!

On Davis Lake out here in Central Oregon the ospreys are always fighting off the bald eagles when they get a fish. The eagles will sit in their tree until the osprey nail a fish and then take off across the lake to steel the fish. The aerial acrobatics are always fun to watch and I always pull for the ospreys. I hate to think of our national bird as a moocher ganstas, but they are often just that.

I also notice when I am fishing around ospreys and they get a fish they like to show it off to the human fisherman.

That sounds so cool, the opsrey show their catch off to the fishermen! I’d love to see that.

I love that part of Oregon...I like to go tramping around Sumpter, Sisters and Anthony Lakes. Absolutely gorgeous part of the country, although where I live in Grants Pass is pretty nice, with Bear Camp road over to Agness and all the logging roads across to the Pacific being nice places to go hiking, off-roading or mountain biking.

Obama and his gang (especially Rahm) are more of a buzzards. I still have some admiration for igles.
