During a discussion on O'Reilly about Bill Clinton's recent attempts to compare the Tea Party movement to the impact of conservative talk radio like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, etc. as having caused Timothy McVay to bomb the Oklahomea Federal building, Dick Morris suggested that Bill should zipper it because Clinton had indicated that this is the first time that he has divulged a comment by Bill that he had to renominate Janet Reno for another term as Attorney General or she would go public about Waco.

No one is interested in this but the families of those murdered and us. Congress turned its eyes and pretended it didn’t happen.

Not so -- there was the infamous exchange between Conyers and Reno, she was on her high horse, indignant, trying to defend the indefensible with gritted teeth (I don't recall her specific words, only that she was truly sanctimonious, stuff about how much she cares for children and such). At a pause, Conyers asks her his "Are you concluded?" that Rush made hay with for some time thereafter.

I'm not saying anything serious or viable came out of it, only correcting the notion. But the truth of the matter, that Reno was not in her chair when the order to strike was given, neither was the second-in-command at Justice (drawing a blank on his name), it was Hubbell (third) who was in charge and overseeing the situation, either Reno had evidence that Billy Jeff pulled the trigger and was able to pass it off on her or she has evidence that Hillary got her best friend Webb to do the deed. But we all know it did not go down in any manner or for the justification the WH gave at the time.

I haven't read it in years, but I do recall the involvement of someone in the Defense Department who specialized in chemical/biological weapons being a key element in that theory. Skimming it just now, I see that the involvement was shortly before the raid. From the timeline:

14 APR 1993 Second briefing of Reno included Dr Harry Salem chief scientist for life sciences at the U.S. Army Chemical Biological Defense Command, Col Boykin of Delta Force and Gen. Schoomarker...

Unless there were a WMD threat, the involvement of Dr. Salem makes no sense.

Ditto for Delta Force, SecDef, Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Guards from two states and the British SAS.
