If 2nd Amendment rallies are 'threat to the rule of law,' then 'rule of law' needs threatening

Yesterday, National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea reported that Josh Horwitz, of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) has described him as a "threat to the rule of law." You really need to read David's article--I promise it will be well worth the time, and I'll be waiting here, when you get back.

OK--so now you know what what makes David so "dangerous," according to Horwitz. It's that he reminded enthusiastically statist journalist Ted Rall that sending American citizens--who have broken no laws--to be tortured, is likely to provoke a forceful reaction from the citizenry.

More specifically, though, David is featured in CSGV's list of "threats," because he will be speaking at both of the 2nd Amendment rallies in the Washington D.C. area on April 19th--the unarmed (in deference to D.C.'s draconian gun laws) Second Amendment March in the capital itself, and the peaceably armed Restore the Constitution rally, at Ft. Hunt National Park.

I have written about Horwitz, and his very public call for a government monopoly on force, before.

If this insurrectionist logic were to be embraced by the Supreme Court, however, our democracy would be severely degraded.

In other words, for the Supreme Court to acknowledge that the Second Amendment's protection of the right to keep and bear arms is necessary for the security of a free state would be "severely degrad[ing]" to our "democracy" (Horwitz's term for our republic, apparently).

My very next column took a closer look at an even more chilling statement by Horwitz.

If every American armed up to vindicate their private grievances (the Court of Appeals gave absolutely no guidance on how to tell, or who should decide, what constitutes government "tyranny"), the government's monopoly on force would be infringed and our society would gradually slide toward anarchy

Statists see the State as their "god", so any limitation on it is seen as blasphemy. It is easier to see who said what at the link.
