Republicans Against Repeal
The American Spectator ^ | 4-8-2010 | W. James Antle, III

Posted on 04/08/2010 3:48:53 AM PDT by Bratch

Well, that didn't take long. After Democratic supermajorities rammed through their health care bill, Republicans were full of sound and fury about how this injustice will not stand. Even John McCain was on board, telling a television interviewer, "Outside the Beltway the American people are very angry and they don't like it and we are going to try to repeal this."

But in the GOP, cooler heads always prevail. What these Republican heads want to cool down is the campaign to repeal the health care takeover. Reports the Associated Press: "Top Republicans are increasingly worried that GOP candidates this fall might be burned by a fire that's roaring through the conservative base: demand for the repeal of President Barack Obama's new health care law."

This smells like a Washington lie. Not a single GOP member is named.

This is why we ultimately need a new party to replace the GOP. Neither party will do the right thing, but it would be easier for us to replace the GOP than the Dems.

Every time I see some post announcing they will never support the GOP again I become exasperated with their foolishness. Back in the days of the Soviet Union , the Communist party would publish articles on how the West was caving in to Soviet demands in order to discourage opposition. This is no different. The Communist leadership is now creating articles on how our side is caving in to discourage us. Don't let them split your forces, the ENEMY is the Democrat party . The future of America depends on your cooperation against them!

The way I have sometimes said it is that it is like being strapped down, helpless in the back seat of a car that is headed toward a cliff of a missing bridge over a huge river and your only choice is which drunk driver to put behind the wheel. The Democrats drive faster but neither one is going to stop and turn the car around.

The leftist Democrats of the sixties would be called extreme right wing conservative nutcases today. The country just keeps sliding to the left.

Never take advice from the enemy.
This is simply wishful thinking from the Left.
Anyone with a CLUE knows that thwarting obama is a ticket to Congress.
We should have billboards all around the country that simply read: “A VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT IS A VOTE FOR OBAMA”

The Republican Party will simply be the saucer that cools the Tea Party

Wishful thinking on the author's part.
We absolutely CANNOT let that happen. We need to stay red-hot and in their faces, their email boxes and fax machines.
We need to have a zero-tolerance approach to supporting candidates, and,by all means, send money to individual PACs and not the RNCC.It's the ONLY way to clean the poop out of the pool.

Replacement doesn't bother me, as long as the replacement is something along the lines of the plan drafted by the Whole Foods' CEO.

I'll second that, and I trust you'll accept as a friendly amendment a dose of tort reform along the lines of capping non-compensatory damages (punitive damages plus pain-and-suffering damages that don't actually pay the cost of medical or psychological treatment for pain or psychological distress) at say double compensatory damages or $500,000 whichever is less, and a modified loser-pays scheme in which the loser must pay the winner's legal fees up to their own or $5000 whichever is more, but only if they not only lose but have a ruling that their position in the suit was frivolous. (Both caps indexed to inflation.)

The NY Slimes praised Bush on health care:

“Less heralded was the Bush administration’s willingness to grant Massachusetts a Medicaid waiver to redeploy federal funds to help start a universal health insurance program. The program took the controversial step of requiring all citizens to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, precisely the sort of government mandate that drives many conservatives wild. By many measures it is off to a promising start and could become a model for other states or the federal government.”

Bush birthed Obama. The son is very much like its father.

Not what is being said.

Vote for true conservatives. They are the ones with plans for REPEALING this crap. Not just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Note: Not all Republicans are conservative and the Country Club GOP is the worst of the lot...

Repeal is probably not possible, depending upon how many
seats the GOP gain, but DEFUNDING is a good possibility.

Perhaps (it seems that way, but I'm not a lawyer and I don't know all the arcane rules), but we didn't even see a hint of civil disobedience from them.

Now that I read you other comments I think, the "idiotic nonsense" was over the top. I just think it would have been a waste of time and extended fodder for the dems. I think it's more up to US, the grassroots and "we the people" to provide the civil disobedience.

You're absolutely right the republicans should have raised total hades, however it would have embolden the opposition and MSM that much more in my opinion.

I think the dems are done, and they did it to themselves! The country is pissed beyond belief "right now" at these scumbags and hopefully they will pay dearly for it in NOV. More importantly though, the repeal of this crapolla legislation is paramount!
