Since the recession compounded a long-standing budget crisis, the Golden State has collapsed into a vicious cycle with no easy way out.

Unions interfere with budget cuts. Cutbacks emerge from somewhere and the people riot. Neither the Republican governor, nor the Democrat president has a solution, except hope to hell that the housing market picks

up again.

Oh yeah, and they're running out of water.

The NEW ballad of Jed Clampett
Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed
Poor oil entrepreneur barely kept his family fed Then one day he was working for some food,
And up through the crowd come a bumbling fool (Arnold that is, RINO gold, more taxes please)

Well the first thing you know old Jed's taxes are to much to bear,
Kin folk said Jed move away from there!
Said California is no place for you to be
So they loaded up the truck and they moved from Beverly (go’n back to the Hills they are, fish’n holes, country and western stars)

Well now it's time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin
They would like to thank you folks for kindly dropping in
You're all invited back again to their new locality
To have a heaping helping of their hospitality (Redneck Hillbillies, is what the press call 'em now, Clingers of bibles and guns and to Obama no bow! Nice folks Y'all come back now, ya hear?)

The most depressing thing about California is how far it has fallen.

It once represented the pinnacle of what America was meant to be. The liberal fools in their clueless, juvenile insanity have nearly pissed all of that magnificent largesse away.

The plight of the Golden State is nothing less than a national disgrace. That should make us all sad.

That’s a lot of money, but if we send them back (usually to Mexico) they just come back.

Better incarcerated than back over the border doing their crimes.

The most depressing thing about CA?

It really is too big to fail.

Good luck to us all if it goes under.

“CA spends $859 million per year on imprisoned illegal immigrants.”

You do realize that since this IS California, the alternative would be to provide healthcare, clothing, food, housing and an education outside of prison?

>CA spends $859 million per year on imprisoned illegal immigrants.

I could reduce that to a million, max.
Bullets are fairly cheap.

“the alternative would be ... “

That’s a `false dilemma’. There are other ways to deal with the salient reason (along with unionized public employees) for California’s fiscal problems than feeding, housing and medicating them, in or out of prison.
At one time, California’s public schools led the nation. Now they are near the bottom of the list. CA has made its own bed.

The most depressing thing about California is how far it has fallen. It once represented the pinnacle of what America was meant to be.

As a native son, I can truly attest to that. In the time that I was raised there, I don't think there was a better place on earth to be a kid.

My wife and I have four kids - all born in California. When our eldest was about nine, we could no longer ignore the handwriting on the wall. We pulled up stakes and headed to Texas, which is very similar to the California of my youth.

Reading articles like this one (and many others) validate my decision to get out.

What I cannot fathom is how people can’t see liberalism for the cancer it is..both my parents died of cancer, so I don’t use the word lightly..IT IS FATAL!! It is a fatal disease..When are people going to wake up from this nightmare? It destroys everything in its path. Yes, California USED to be a great state, but abundance breeds laxity, and laxity breeds liberals...before you know it, the cockroaches are even leaving the state for better opportunities elsewhere.

Most depressing: EVERY State Legislator running for re-election in 2008 won. Every spending bill won—even though we were already broke.

We’ll see the same results this November.

The California electorate is SICK IN THE HEAD.
