How phony is Barack Obama? PBS Washington Week host Gwen Ifill reviewed New Yorker editor David Remnick's new Obama book The Bridge in the Washington Post Outlook section Sunday, and she kept finding Obama is a Slick Barry, a "shape shifter." Obama even admitted to rhetoric what should be obvious -- how he changes "dialects" depending on the audience he's talking to:

Obama cops to this. "The fact that I conjugate my verbs and speak in a typical Midwestern newscaster's voice -- there's no doubt that this helps ease communication between myself and white audiences," he tells Remnick.

"And there's no doubt that when I'm with a black audience I slip into a slightly different dialect. But the point is, I don't feel the need to speak a certain way in front of a black audience. There's a level of self-consciousness about these issues the previous generation had to negotiate that I don't feel I have to."

That’s because a growing fraction of the public and even media recognize it is an “act.” Obama says what he needs to say to get what he wants. He doesn’t change his beliefs or actions to accord with what the public wants: he simply makes it appear that whatever they want is what he wants. Having pulled the wool over most people’s eyes, he then does what he wants. When anyone objects or points out this deception, they are tagged as “racist.” Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.

Hillary C. knows how easy it is just to slip, with no effort or awareness at all, into the easy cadences of childhood. (In Hillary’s case, a childhood spent under the hot Mississippi sun, on a small patch of red dirt from which her sharecropper daddy somehow managed to extract a meager living for her and her six siblings, before a life of toil and no access to comprehensive health care, drove him, like so many other African-American men, to an early grave.)

When are the blacks who worship this phony going to wake up and realize that he shares nothing with them? Obummy was raised and schooled in a foreign country, called Hawaii home — the most multicultural state in the union, educated with elites all his life, etc., etc. Bobby Rush and coherts in Chicago who picked him as not knowing anything about ghetto were right the first time around.

Obama isn’t a phony, but the genuine article where it counts most—he is precisely what leftists want in a president of the US, someone who talks in vague feelgood blather while carefully putting into place legislative landmines which will cause the most damage down the line, when government will have to take over larger sectors of the economy in order to “help people.”

The word ‘Reform’ poll tests better than that or redistribution. Which do you think sounds better for polling purposes : immigration reform or amnesty for illegals? How about the “Economic recovery act of 2009”?? Or calling pork projects 'investments'? It's endless.

Washington disingenuous? Not Obama and Pelosi! Maybe Obama needs to explain it to you a few more times. You know how smart he is.
