Several stories now coming out, e.g., "Governor Faced with Several Options to fill Chief Justice Seat." "OLUMBUS, Ohio -- A local attorney who argued before Ohio Supreme Court Justice Thomas Moyer says Governor Ted Strickland has several options when it comes to filling Chief Justic Moyer's seat. He can appoint the Democratic Party Candidate Franklin County Judge Eric Brown...."

Would this be a party change? Put another way, was Moyer a D or an R?
(gotta admit the words that jumped out at me first were “Chief Justice Thomas” and “died” which made me think Julienne Malveaux had gotten her wish.)

The mods have told others before that an abuse report catches their attention better than FReepmail.
They don’t always have time to check FReepmails but do have to deal with ARs.

I don’t think his wife has served him too much butter or too many eggs.
tnx mods.
Also see post immediately after this..........
Brenner, the corrupt Soros SOS, put some kind of stipulation in place about crossover voting in the upcoming primary. Something about having to sign a ‘party loyalty oath’ or something straight out of 1930s Germany/USSR.
The SoS office also ‘lost’ or otherwise invalidated a whole bunch of signatures gathered to put at least one direct contentder to her on the ballot or some such. A bit fuzzy this evening. Apologies.
From post immediately after this thread........
“(T)he Ohio Liberty Council, is awaiting approval from the Ohio Ballot Board before gathering the more than 400,000 signatures it needs to place the amendment on the November ballot.”

No, he was sadly a Republican. The Governor here is a Dem, so that’s what his replacement is bound to be.

But we all know what the dims would be screaming for if a D had died and an R was governor, don't we?

> Was he a Dem? God rest his soul. No. In fact, he dealt justice to the Dems when they overstepped their mandate and tried to slime the Ohio GOP in 2004-5:
Chief justice disqualifies entire Cuyahoga County court
7/13/2005, 5:11 a.m. ET The Associated Press
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) All 34 judges on the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court have been disqualified by Ohio's chief justice from hearing a lawsuit alleging corruption by the Republican party.
Chief Justice Thomas Moyer said on Tuesday the unusual move was necessary to eliminate any perception of bias by the court system that's dominated by Democrats. Moyer is a Republican.
Moyer said he will appoint a retired visiting judge from outside Cuyahoga County to the case.
Moyer ruled in a lawsuit filed on Aug. 2, 2004, by Cuyahoga County Commissioner Timothy Hagan, the 2002 Democratic nominee for governor ...

Interesting.
I wonder what he died of?
When prominent conservatives die, of any age, during this regime, questions must be asked.
Particularly when the prominent conservative is healthy.

No. An R.
Strickland can appoint a party apparatchik or actually leave the seat to be voted on next year...which could lead to ‘tie’ decisions.
Do not know what’s before the court, but I’d lay money something about the election will be on the docket.
