In a press release just handed to Fox by the FBI, the six Michigan residents, two from Ohio, one from Indiana are charged with “seditious conspiracy.”
Reportedly, Hutaree is accused of attempted use of weapons of mass destruction. Charges range from August 2008 to today. The militia group Hutaree are said to have conspired to oppose by force the authority of the US Government.
The members viewed local, state and federal law enforcement as "the brotherhood," also known as their enemy, and have been preparing, the FBI says, to engage them in armed conflict.
According to one plan released by the FBI, the group was to kill a law enforcement officer, then during the funeral precession, hit again with IEDs to kill more LEOs.

Like Candor7, I won't trust any of what is being reported about this group's alleged activities in the MSM, that same MSM which initially reported that a Christian militia was targeting American Muslims.
Like Candor7 states, the total loss of the presumption of innocence in regards to the accused is extremely distressing; in past decades, no matter how one felt, there was at least a facade that EVERYONE is presumed innocent until PROVEN otherwise.

I read that thing, (the indictment,) over and over and it never says where or when this was attempted. If it is true that these guys were planning to kill a police officer and there is proof of this, why all the peripheral stuff?
PLANNING to defend oneself against a government run amuck is no crime.
IF they planned to murder a police officer in cold blood, where did that information come from? This seems to be a very tight group.
It also refers to a “militia summit.” Why are there no other militias charged in this if they knew of this plan? Is this an excuse to descend on other militia groups?
I am having trouble with this.
Having lawful arms and medical supplies is not a crime but this is part of the charges.
The Survivalists do this as routine. Most of us have first aid kits in our homes and vehicles.
I am witholding judgment until I hear the other side of the story. This is overcharging from what I can see. These guys might be off the wall, but I want to see the specific evidence that this plan was going forward. And I also want to know if this is a prelude to further raids on militias using these kinds of charges that would apply to ANY militia anywhere.
Anything in this indictment beyond the INTENDED murder of a police officer is an overreach and could be applied to anyone who speaks in defiance of fed gov, and if upheld in a court of law damns us all.

Maybe rightfully so, if you “really” make it known that your intent and the intent of your “militia” group is to “instigate” an illegal act, then yup, you be screwed if you catch the attention of the government...
But I noticed how much faster (the misinformation parade) occurs during a time where our government is in a condition where the majority are liberal-statists who are calling the shots...And the pursuit is relentless, almost driving the groups into these situations where they do get noticed...
I’m all for the reasons behind “militias”, not the ones, and the ideals, that are portrayed by the government and the media mouthpieces that support the left leaning cycle of representation we have now...

No troll. Gun owner and all my children know how to use (and own) firearms responsibly. Liberal on some things, Conservative on others, most particularly support 2nd Amendment Rights. I support the RESPONSIBLE militia movement. I would have NO problem defending my country or my home should it under attack by Right Wing, Left Wing or foreign radicals.
The point I’m trying to make here is that I have absolutely NO truck with movements that mix guns or violence with religion. That is anathema to me, under any circumstances.

The charges in the “indictment” are so vague that, as I said, if upheld in a court of law, can be attributed to ANY group or militia, whether organized or not, and whether you train at a gun club, a shooting range, on your own property, or anywhere TWO or more gather...even if your weapons are legal and you have NEVER uttered a single word against this government. Does religion include the religion of the liberal left: That all religion is subsumed by the state, that state can BE the ONLY religion? Sounds a bit like only the state can be the religion of the people.

The authorities have a duty to arrest people who are making plans like this. That’s the end of the story there. There’s no reason on Earth to think this is the first step in some sort of coup.
AFAIK, Muslim terrorists generally tend to go after civilians rather than members of the security apparatus. This is more like an armed revolt than terrorism.
