Last week the British Embassy announced that British, French and American troops would march with Russian soldiers on Red Square to mark the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. The Brits said in a statement that the parade may mark the first time British troops have marched in Red Square; I believe the same observation applies to the American troops that will join the parade. But why do we need to do this in Moscow? Why not France? Or Berlin for good measure? We should NOT march in Moscow. It legitimizes the 45 year occupation of Eastern Europe by the Soviet Union, and the actions of the Russian government in Georgia.
BTW, they are going to have large pictures of Stalin in the area; potentially on Red Square itself.
This arrangement has to be intended to threaten someone. Who would top your list?

Soon we will have US troops surrendering arms in Mecca.
"...at the time of the Nazi-Soviet Pact, the Communists suddenly transformed the 'Anti-Nazi League' into the "Hollywood Peace Forum," calling for American neutrality and using the slogan 'Let's Skip the Next War.'..."

Unfortunately, Obama has just begun.
Patton wanted to rearm the Germans and send them after the Russians.
Most of Eastern Europe has nothing but contempt for Eisenhower. That bitter coward and appeaser left Eastern Europe to twist in the wind.
Churchill knew better. He should have convinced Patton to defect to the UK. Lord knows he wasn’t getting any respect from Top Brass in the US.
Montgomery nearly lost the war for them in Operation Market Garden. Had Eisenhower had listened to Patton, he could have ended the war up to 6 months sooner. Market Garden was an idiotic idea by a very mediocre General. Montgomery kept winning and the losing the same territory in North Africa before the US got involved.
At the time, we thought we might have needed the Soviets to help invade Japan. Again, what if.
We should have waited a bit longer to engage Herr Hitler.
Thanks.
I am very aware of that book and Soviet atrocities.
I’m with you. I despise Barack Obama, but I’m not quite sure where the outrage is coming from. They aren’t asking to march in celebration of Stalin, but of the many Russian soldiers who we worked with to liberate many concentration camps.
While I understand the feelings about Stalin, let’s not forget that there were a good many Russian men who fought just as hard to liberate the jews under Hitler and THEY should be celebrated.
Well they certainly didn't liberate the Poles, they just gave them a different set of chains.
Still, We could have this parade in France or London, and invite in the Russian soldiers to march there. We should not march in Moscow because of the enslavement of Eastern Europe.
We can have our parade wherever we'd like. The Russians are choosing to have their parade in Moscow. They are inviting us as guests. You can guarantee that any service member who feels so strongly against spending a week or so enjoying a paid spring vacation in Moscow will have the opportunity to decline.
We did win the Cold War. Why not celebrate with a march in the defeated enemies capitol?
The linked article is entitled “Parade’s End” and written by Scott Johnson.
The title and author given at top of this thread are quite different although Powerline is given as the source.
The world we’re currently living in, I believe this is possible.
Stalin aside, KGB Putin is no friend of ours. He’s helped build up every one of our enemies from Saddam Hussein (before and during the war) to Chavez, the Castro bros and that nut job in Iran, plus some others.
