Our AG is living up to our state’s motto: Sic Semper Tyrannis!

There is nothing better than being a native Virginian :-)

I moved here in 2000 and was glad to get out of Democrat laden Pennsylvania. Then VA got a Democrat gov. Then VA voters elected Obama. Finally, Virginians came to their senses again and elected Republicans to head up our state once more.

So, to paraphrase a comment of, ahem, Michelle Ma Belle, that we so often repeated...."After 10 years, I am finally proud of Virginia!" Thank goodness we have an AG and a Gov. with some guts and common sense. I hope this has legs and stands...and that other states follow our lead.

No individual mandate means the end of 0-Care. I'm not a lawyer/liar but that's what it seems to me. Obama/Pelosi/Reid want socialism and when you can legally opt out of socialism then socialism cannot finance its projects.

Sounds reasonable to me!

No matter where I live, my heart and soul will always be in Virginia.

You are the type of transplanted Yankees we like. My step-father was a transplanted Yankee when he came from New Jersey to attend University of Richmond in the 50’s. When he died, he was a native Virginian. :-)

” ...it includes DC (District of Criminals).”

DC has its own District Court and Court of Appeals, they aren’t part of the Eastern District of VA, which also has a division in Northern VA as well as Richmond, where this suit was filed. The 4th Circuit (under which the VA Eastern District Court falls) includes MD, WV, NC, but not DC.

Many thanks! I saw the Virgina AG on Fox on Sunday and he was saying that his (Fed) district court decisions would be considered quicker than other Fed District courts. That he had 15 other AGs in with him. A block lawsuit against 0-Care.

You tell me and other freepers (thanks)

I am really happy that VA has elections on the off year after the Presidential election!

The Eastern District of VA is also the court where Zacarias Massaoui (sp?) [the 20th hijacker] was tried (Alexandria Division). They do NOT fool around in that court, and it’s a far friendlier clime than the one in DC.

Cuccinnelli, the VA AG, btw, got the highest percentage of votes in the GOP sweep of VA elections last fall. He also was the only and last surviving Republican in Northern VA for the House of Delegates.

Thanks! Much appreciated. You have a good AG who is willing to take the initiative, Other AGs are joining him in a block lawsuit

How are the judges chosen for these cases? Can we shop the complaint around in search of a more sympathetic ear?

That's good news. As long as it wasn't assigned to the Carter appointee, things could potentially look good on the trial level.

WHEREAS, the health care bill recently passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama includes a mandate requiring Americans to purchase health care insurance, and

WHEREAS, a citizen who is not engaging in commerce may not be compelled to engage in commerce by the federal government, and

WHEREAS, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Congress may not regulate non-commercial activities using the commerce clause, and

WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia has passed a law protecting Virginia's citizens from this unconstitutional mandate,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the undersigned citizens of the United States support the lawsuit brought by the Commonwealth of Virginia to declare the health care individual mandate unconstitutional.
