It's a Civil War: What We Do Now
Townhall.com ^ | March 23, 2010 | Dennis Prager

Posted on 03/23/2010 4:56:20 AM PDT by Kaslin

A terrible thing happened to America on Sunday, March 21, 2010.

The country took its biggest step ever down a road diametrically opposed to its original intent of keeping the state small so that the individual can be free and great.

Therefore, in this unprecedented crisis of values, this is what needs to be done:

1. Know and teach America's core values.

We got to this point solely because over the past few generations, Americans have forgotten the values that have made America distinctive and great. Even the "Greatest Generation" failed to communicate them.

In a nutshell, they are what I call the American Trinity: "In God we trust," "Liberty" and "E Pluribus Unum." The left has successfully made war on all three -- substituting secularism for God and religion in as much of American life as possible; substituting equality (of result) for liberty; and multiculturalism is the opposite of "E Pluribus Unum."

People who do not understand American ideals -- especially small government -- now dominate our schools, our entertainment media and our news media.

(My own contribution here is a video titled, "The American Trinity" at prageru.com. Please view it and forward it.)

2. Recognize that we are fighting the left, not liberals.

Conservatives and centrists are no longer fighting liberals. We are fighting the left.

Liberalism believed in American exceptionalism; the left not only does not believe in it, the left opposes it. President Obama, when asked if he believes in American exceptionalism, replied, "I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism, and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism."

Liberalism believed in creating wealth; the left is interested in redistributing it.

Liberalism believed in a strong defense. The left believes in cutting defense and a strong United Nations.

3. Democrats should be referred to as Social Democrats. This is not meant to be cute, let alone as a slur. But calling Democrats Social Democrats is an effective way of reminding Americans that there is no longer any difference between what is now known as the Democratic Party and the Social Democratic parties of Europe. When the Democratic Party returns to its roots as a liberal, not a left-wing, party, we will happily resume calling the party by its original name. However, since no Democrat can cite a significant difference between the Democratic Party and the SD parties, there is no good reason not to use the more accurate nomenclature.

4. Work tirelessly to repeal the bill.

We must single-mindedly work to repeal the government health plan. We all know that it is difficult to repeal entitlements because they are like drugs and it is very difficult to wean people off drugs. But it is not impossible. We need to warn our fellow Americans that entitlements will do to America what drugs eventually do to addicts.

All Republicans must run for office on the "repeal" issue. Even when they lose, the difference between right and left, between Republicans and Social Democrats will have been made clear; and clarity is our best friend.

5. Our motto: "The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen."

I used this phrase in addressing the Republican members of Congress. It has become widely used, including by Rep. David Dreier, R-Calif., on the House floor during the Congressional debate on Sunday. It encapsulates this epic battle of American values versus leftist values. Every movement needs a motto. I nominate this.

6. Do not let other matters distract.

Neither Republicans nor conservatives are united on every issue facing America. Immigration is one example. But we are united on the big government vs. free individual issue, which, more than anything else, has defined America. If we allow any other domestic issue to divide us, we will lose.

And here's why: If Americans forget what America stands for, it won't help us if there is not one illegal immigrant here. And if we do remember what it means to be American, we can handle anything.

7. Acknowledge that we are in a non-violent civil war.

I write the words "civil war" with an ache in my heart. But we are in one.

Thank God this civil war is non-violent. But the fact is that the left and the rest of the country share almost no values. The American value system and the leftist value system are irreconcilable. If the left wins, America's values lose. If American values prevail, the left loses.

After Sunday's vote, for the first time in American history, one could no longer confidently believe that the American system will prevail. And if we don't fight for it, we don't deserve it.

We KNOW what we are doing is Right. Why let the Enemies opinion of us deter us from action?

FReepers can't do it alone. You'll need the rest of the population to follow along. So far, a lot of people are paying attention, but just as many people aren't.

Why not call them what they are: Marxists, communists, fascists?

Oh absolutely, You'd be foolish not to be ready for it.

However, IMHO, there's a big difference between being prepared for the worst, and looking forward to such a thing.

For instance, I know how to grow a garden, how to hunt, and how to fish. It's fun, when you want a tomato or two for sandwiches, or want to sit in a boat drinking a beer with your buddies while waiting for a bass to bite. But, trying to feed a family of four that way - who will go hungry if you're not successful - is hard work.

It's far easier to plunk down a credit card at the grocery store, than it is to grow all of your own groceries from scratch.

I think that there are many FReepers who haven't thought things all the way through - if things really go to hell in a handbasket. Internet and FR will be two of the first things to go. :-)

They didn't need the "rest of the population". Hell, they didn't even get a plurality of eligible voters.

FReepers won't be alone. 3%, Oathkeepers, Alarm and Muster, Minutemen, and dozens of other like minded groups are all there as well.

Yes. It probably will be someone doing something stupid that start the whole avalanche. This should not deter us from doing what needs doing.

Freedom and our Republic is worth it. Every bit as much now as it was back in the 1700's.

They would love to have the civil war become more . . . energetic . . .

However, they really have designed it to be a civil-mopping up exercise to remove uncompliant folks unwilling to be robots, stooges, puppets--as well as other "useless eaters."

The war has mostly been fought in the media with various levels of brain-washing propaganda techniques that have been most effective and still are for the masses.

I say has . . . because the war is all but over . . . they will win for 7 or so years, according to my understanding of Scripture. Christ will take possession and totally do away with them at Armageddon . . . however, there's a huge painful and bloody mess between now and then. They are working to help put the king of hell at the helm of the globe. They will succeed.

We MUST still stand tall for God and righteousness and all that's good about our USA ideals and Nation. Counting the cost and prayerfully being obedient TO GOD, however, IS CRUCIAL.

May God have mercy on all who Love Him in coming traumas.

1996 - October 23: On "The Charlie Rose Show" on the Public Broadcasting System, Mikhail Gorbachev states: "We are part of the Cosmos. Cosmos is my God. Nature is my God....The future society will be a totally new civilization which will synthesize the experience of Socialism and Capitalism...."

1919

A book entitled The New World Order by Samuel Zane Batten is published by the American Baptist Publication Society. In this book, Batten declares: "The old order passes from view, the new world rises upon our vision....We have vindicated the right of social control.....There must be developed a national spirit of service....Society must break the stranglehold of capitalism....The natural resources of the nation must be socialized....The state must socialize every group....Men must learn to have a world patriotism. World patriotism must be a faith....

1962 - March 10 State Department Study Memorandum No. 7, "A World Effectively Controlled by the United Nations, " written by CFR member Lincoln Bloomfield, in which he states: "A world effectively controlled by the United Nations is one in which "world government" would come about through the establishment of supranational institutions, characterized by mandatory universal membership and some ability to employ physical force....(But) if the communist dynamic was greatly abated, the West might lose whatever incentive it has for world government" [EDITOR, I THINK] It looks as if now the "communist menace" has been replaced by the "terrorist menace". And of course they can switch back to the communist menace or any other kind of menace whenever they want to.

Scratch a liberal and under his thin skin is a socialist. Dig a little bit deep and you soon find the Marxist nuclear fuel rod that drivers everything he says and does.

There will always be one more "excuse" for not going "bonkers".

Your screen name suits you.

Unless you have a willing army to follow you, you're not going to get very far.
Do you thing Joe Schmo or Sally Smith down at the mall are "with you?" Do you think, at this point, they're as willing and eager as you to take up arms and fight to the death?
How many people, right now, do you have in your army? Don't you think it would be wiser to recruit more before you try to take on the world?

Based on what: trite cliches ingrained from years of television?

What make you think you see what other FReepers miss?

the face-saving rhetoric of cowards.

You are free to imply that I am a coward, especially using your keyboard. But I say again, when you have demonstrated your courage in any objective manner, other than of course, your heroic "philosophical clarification," please let us know.

Ah yes... The old "attack the messenger" bit. Are you running out of platitudes already?

Do I really need my own army? Is that the only way this could be done? Are you sure about that?

You obviously haven't thought this through very much.

The Intolerable Acts are also known as the Coercive Acts.

They have conveniently attempted to quell their main base, THE COLLEGE STUDENTS, by attempting to appease the effects by “the age 26 rule”, to prevent uprising and’or the “Kent State Effect.” (And also the so called college loan takeover.) One may add to this what they have been indoctrinated with also.

70% of real Americans did not want, AND therefore were NOT REPRESENTED in this so called “bill”.

So we now see the reason for the “COMPLIANCE CRUSADE”, beginning in Iowa, which is an attempt to quell the 70% before the big bureaus kick in. But, Mommy and Daddy in this 70% aren’t buying it and WILL NOT.

By my timeline, we are now in-between The Olive Branch Petitions....(WE HAVE TRIED AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN , on the local levels, on the regional levels, and by great PERSONAL expenditures, personal expenses not paid for by The State Politburo. And now this past weekend another personal attempt Olive Branch Petition right at the steps of the Capital itself, OUR CAPITAL, once again distanced, misstated, or ignored by the arms of the “new” Federal Politburo.).

So we are somewhere in between “The Olive Branch Petitions” and “The Declaration of Arms”

American CITIZENS, as Thomas Paine would say, WILL NOT, AND CANNOT, SUPPLY THE MEANS IN WHICH THEY WILL THEN BE OPPRESSED.

Ghandi did it without firing a shot. So did Reagan. Both walked in the truth, and both won the battle.

I'm probably going to piss someone off, but here goes.,

Reagan didn't do "it". If he had we would not be here now, fighting back the socialists.

Reagan successfully fought the cold war, for which I am ever greatful. He did not take on the domestic front. It is the American Bolsheveks who are in control now, in part because Reagan was unable to defang them. They continued to control all the levers of power: the press, the universities, the CFR, the big banks.

Gandhi succeeded only because the British were tired, and essentially a fair and compassionate people. The idea of "the White man's burden" was finished. The philosophic underpinning of the Empire had fallen away.

Did you watch the signing ceremony? The are strong in their beliefs and ideology, those Communist bastards. They control the levers of government and culture, even more so than they did at the time of Reagan.

A better anology might be the fall of the USSR. There were still true believers, but much of the venom had been boiled away by then. Of course most of the courage, beauty, strength and history of the Russian culture had been lost too.

We can take that course. But, are we willing to wait 100 years and things slowly grind down, every year worse than the last, until finally the pathetic hulk of the United Socialist States of America collapse, leaving our descendents sitting in Ruins, as the Russian people were circa 1990?
