Oh absolutely, You'd be foolish not to be ready for it.

However, IMHO, there's a big difference between being prepared for the worst, and looking forward to such a thing.

For instance, I know how to grow a garden, how to hunt, and how to fish. It's fun, when you want a tomato or two for sandwiches, or want to sit in a boat drinking a beer with your buddies while waiting for a bass to bite. But, trying to feed a family of four that way - who will go hungry if you're not successful - is hard work.

It's far easier to plunk down a credit card at the grocery store, than it is to grow all of your own groceries from scratch.

I think that there are many FReepers who haven't thought things all the way through - if things really go to hell in a handbasket. Internet and FR will be two of the first things to go. :-)

Based on what: trite cliches ingrained from years of television?

What make you think you see what other FReepers miss?
