As House Democratic leaders advised their members Friday to prepare for a legislative battle over health care that could stretch through next weekend, four additional rank-and-file Democrats have come out against the Obama administration's signature domestic priority.
Reps. Ben Chandler of Kentucky, Luiz Gutierrez of Illinois, Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin of South Dakota and Heath Shuler of North Carolina say they will vote against their party's health care plan, which may be headed to a final vote late next week.
"At this time, I am a 'no' vote on health care," said Gutierrez in a written statement. "It's no secret that I have been critical of proposals that would exclude our nation's hardworking immigrants from the health care exchange, and I would find it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to vote for any measure that denies undocumented workers health care purchased with their own dollars."
According to an ongoing CNN survey, 21 House Democrats have now indicated they will vote against the Senate bill when it comes to the floor, though six of those members say they would consider voting for it if it were significantly modified. Opponents of the bill need a total of 38 Democrats to vote against the measure to ensure its defeat, assuming that all Republican members remain unified in their opposition.
Some members made clear that their votes are not negotiable. Josh Taylor, a spokesman for Texas Rep. Chet Edwards, told CNN the congressman "voted 'no' on health care the first time around and will vote 'no' the second."
Proponents of the health care plan need 216 votes in order to pass the Senate plan. As of Friday, no Republicans said they would vote in favor of the bill, which would mean Democratic leaders must rely solely on votes from its own members.(continued)

I guess we will have to put a steak through it’s heart to kill it once and for all!!!!
An ammenment has been drawn to require congressional leaders all accept the same insurance as citizens have to.
Shuler is finally feeling the heat. That’s ok, he voted for cap n tax, so he has revealed himself. This will not redeem him for me, but of course, i did not vote for him anyway.
old pro-America Democratic Party....has been dead for generations. One chooses to stand with todays Democrats or not. Todays registered Democrats are every bit the enemy as any we have faced in the past.
This country is inching towards civil war daily...and its time people take notice.
More DemocRATS hold out for a bigger bribe.
We keep hearing the Dems call for bi-partisanship. Well, you don’t have to look too far to find it! We should be hearing more about the bi-partisan makeup of the OPPOSITION!
I don’t believe that for a second. If they had the votes it would be signed by the Kenyan by now.
If they vote it will pass. If they don’t have the votes they will not vote.
Thats why its so amusing to see headlines for the past 3 months of Pelosi saying she has the votes yet no vote is ever taken. Its reported by one media outlet or another on a daily basis.
Because, more than likely, it's a lie. I am sure the illegals will get free HC or be able to buy it. It's a lie composed to make those opposed to this rotten bill look evil.
You have to remember who Gutierrez is. He plain and simply wants to make every mexican a U.S. citizen so they can start milking the cow.
Luis Gutierrez is opposed to the bill because he complains it does not do enough for illegals. Gutierrez is an ethnic bigot of the first order.
“There will be consequences.”
One hopes that is so.
“I wish I was younger would like to march against these ass4oles!!”
Well, I’ll be 60 next year, and I sure as hell consider myself young enough.
They are free to come out against it now since they intend to use that Slaughter rule.
This is their way of trying to save their own skin.
they need to be booted.
“This country is inching towards civil war daily...and its time people take notice.”
It sure seems that way.
They're holding out for more special deals, pork, bribes, etc.
I doubt this is the case for one reason: in the negotiations they have now STRIPPED the Cornhusker Bailout and the Louisiana Purchase from the bill. So they are moving away from this.
Don't get me wrong: until this is dead, its head cut off and the mouth stuffed with garlic, and a stake through its heart, I won't believe it's over. But these defections are a very, very good sign.
See my post #76, but also note this: many of these want a MORE socialist bill (i.e., health care for illegals, etc). It shouldn’t be hard to bribe or cajole them. They are commies, after all.
If Plastic thought she had the votes, the House would have voted by now. No scheduled vote equals not enough ‘yes’ votes for passage.
***It shouldnt be hard to bribe or cajole them. They are commies, after all.***
Watch what they DO - not what they SAY!!!
BUT - if they say; “The fact of the matter is”...OR...”At the end of the day”.
WE ARE SCROOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUED;(
He speaketh lies. It is the old straw man argument. The issue is whether or not illegals are paid for by me and you.
