Anatomy Of a Failing Presidency (old editorial)
The Fillmore Gazette ^ | Geoffrey P. Hunt

Posted on 03/02/2010 3:23:24 PM PST by Ron C.

Barack Obama is on track to have the most spectacularly failed presidency since Woodrow Wilson. In the modern era, we've seen several failed presidencies--led by Jimmy Carter and LBJ. Failed presidents have one strong common trait-- they are repudiated, in the vernacular, spat out. Of course, LBJ wisely took the exit ramp early, avoiding a shove into oncoming traffic by his own party. Richard Nixon indeed resigned in disgrace, yet his reputation as a statesman has been partially restored by his triumphant overture to China 20.

Why Woodrow Wilson? Sure, he didn't get his League of Nations, but otherwise...

... and a sub-note.

A flood of this is just beginning to break. It has been building and building, and the dam is about to burst wide open. I would not doubt calls for impeachment are somewhere in the not distant future.

Has there been a democrat president that didn’t have a “failed presidency”?

Old editorial. Unclever.

0bama’s problems are self-created; he over-promised and under-delivered.

Moreover, 0bama has so far refused to back down from his “all or nothing” approach, even when he and Congress are spending their time/effort on non-priority issues (to the public).

For example, the push for healthcare “reform” over the past year has been a priority for 0bama and Congress...whereas the priority of the American public has been on jobs and the economy.

That’s a disconnect.

Demanding “my way or the highway” on comprehensive healthcare therefore sets 0bama up for failure in multiple ways, such as in Congress and with public approval, as well as putting him behind the curve on economic reforms (such as shutting down zombie insurers and manufacturers).

Wilson was a 'progressive' - translation, socialist. He tried to set up nascent world government,i.e., the League of Nations, via the Versailles Treaty, which thankfully failed spectacularly.

Even Democrats didn't want to forge into socialism as fast as Wilson was willing to go.

Naaa... Not with Juan Williams, Colin Powell, and this guy around.

I'm not especially happy with his Indian removal plan or his ignoring the Supreme Court decision but it's not worth arguing about.

Yes but others at least didn’t hate the country. FDR, HST, JFK, LBJ, JC, BC at least did not appear to hate America. If they did, they hid it. But this guy, wow, has so much hate for America and it’s not even disguised.

Obama will be set for life after he ruins this country. It won’t be a failed presidency unless we impeach his sorry ass...

"...they are all failures."

I'd agree with that for all of the 19th and 20 Century, but remember this. The first 'progressives' were socialist Republicans - and it took conservative Democrats to toss them out of office. The political pendulum swings back and forth with the fortunes of parties... remember when Clinton was in office, over 600 Democrats suddenly decided they were Republicans. Ben 'Nighthorse' Campbell comes to mind...

Beautiful. Extra kudos for the author not repeating that “articulate with soaring rhetoric” claptrap and noting the TOTUS-reader is neither smart nor articulate.

He deserves hanging - for outright treason, in my view.
