Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) will endorse Arizona Sen. John McCain in his GOP primary battle with former congressman J.D. Hayworth, advisers to the governor say.
McCain asked McDonnell for his backing after having campaigned for the Virginian last year. The 2008 presidential nominee, who is being portrayed by some critics as too moderate, undoubtedly hopes McDonnell can help him in conservative circles.

I never considered McDonnell as presidential material. I guess he could be a long-shot choice for VP on a Sarah Palin ticket.

Geeze, Bob-o, joining the country club pretty quickly, hum?

I guess my governor doesn’t care that much about safe borders. [Frown.]

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) will endorse Arizona Sen. John McCain in his GOP primary battle with former congressman J.D. Hayworth, advisers to the governor say. I wish the governor would just stay out of it. Such endorsements do not endear the governor to many, especially for a RINO on too many issues.
J. D. Hayworth is better qualified for the job, and more in tune with responsible, common-sense (conservative) lawmaking.

It’s not difficult to realize that every one of these political hacks endorsing McCain will also endorse AMNESTY or worse!

I see they are not listening to the people either. Their going about thier merry way, you endorse me, I'll endorse you we'll all get elected in November and have a great time working across the isle with the socialists in charge! We hear everyone saying the emergence of a third party is dangerous and may lead to an Obama victory but these idiots are deaf to. If we see bipartisanship with this scam deathcare bill this is a clear indication to conservatives, libertarians and independents that the Republican party is not a party to be associated with!

Is that hysterically funny or what? The entire republican establishment being called out to save poor old John’s bacon because he’s too weak a man to carry it off by himself. He’s always had other fight his battles for him.

Funny that McCain the “Maverick” has to pull out all the establishment politicians to save his bacon. Old man is too weak to pull it off by himself.

Has there been any real corroboration on this? I don't see any upside to this for Bob. Is this something McCain hopes for or is it real?
If McCain is leaking this it tells us something more about McDonnell's strength.

Bob, say it aint so. This didn't pass the smell test. McCain's people leaked this for a reason; McCain needs McDonnell more than vice versa. You have to think - I think Bob McDonnell has more political capital than any GOP politician in the country right now.

Absolutely! Hayworth is great and McCain needs to go. 79% (2,675 votes)
Perhaps, but I would rather support someone else against McCain 9% (291 votes)
Not at all. John McCain should be left alone 9% (320 votes)
Third party is the way to go 3% (116 votes)
Total Votes: 3,402
“In a stunning rebuke to John McCain, over 77% [now 79%] of respondents say they back Hayworth over McCain.

Mebbe in ‘normal’ years or ‘normal’ times, but we’re in mortal combat, for the SOUL of the Grand Old Party.

Meet the new GOP, same as the old GOP.And what did Glenn Beck say about the GOP at the CPAC? Something like he can't take the GOP seriously until it takes the first step and both recognizes and acknowledges that the Republican Party has a real problem. Instead, the GOP "brass" continues to endorse and back-slap the very same people who led our party to the edge of the cliff, in the first place.
