Toledo police Sunday identified the victim of Saturday night's fatal shooting on Galena Street in North Toledo as Christopher Childress, 21, of North Toledo.
Sgt. William Wauford said Mr. Childress was shot once in the chest when he was confronted by the homeowner, whom police declined to immediately identify over "concerns about his safety."

This poster’s editorial is inappropriate, not to mention incorrect. It diminishes the entire site when people try to divine a journalist’s intent.
I read the piece, and it is in no way defending the perp’s actions.
Get a grip, people.
So, aside from living at 811 Galena St., they don't want to identify him?
Good shooting! Now if the wounded perp expires I’ll happily change that to great shooting!
From another view;
Were I the guy who lived at that address, I would place a large ad everywhere I could that read:
I lived at 811 Galena St. I have moved. If you’re looking for me, I now rent a room at The Toledo Blade. My door has the words “City Editor” on it. You’re welcome to drop in any time.
the perp is a “victim?” a “victim?” wth?
Fixed it.
I think someone needs a bit more time at the range, and needs to remember that anything worth shooting, it’s worth shooting twice.
I prefer the term “deceased home invader”...
.
Seems that Childress was NOT the victim He was the perpetrator and he paid a heavy but just price for his criminality.
Just my opinion.
Since when do you have to have a concealed-carry permit, to shoot an intruder in your own home.
I hope to see this story in next month’s NRA magazine. As a Toledo resident I highly commend the responsible CCW holder.
Rest in hell, punk!
Well, considering that the shooting took place in home of the victim and the reporter did release his address I can only assume that the reporter considers the burglar to be the victim here.
That is better. I couldn't think of anything more accurate than "burglar".
Our local news have been covering many gun related deaths. Makes me wonder what is going on. Last night they were talking about the anniversary of a shooting, a shooting last night and a shooting that happened two months ago where the victim just died. The first five minutes of the local news was anti gun propaganda.

I live part-time just outside Columbus and have had the displeasure of reading the Blade from time to time. It's just this side of a Communist broadsheet. It's ridiculous.
