ORLANDO, Fla. -- An instructor teaching a concealed weapons safety class accidentally shot one of his participants in Orlando.
The class was being held at the Summit Church on Herndon Avenue, but the church was not sponsoring the class. The class was a NRA Concealed Weapons Safety Course.
Orlando police say Michael Phillips was teaching the class, when his gun accidentally went off, and shot Robert Frauman, Junior.
Frauman was shot in the foot. He was taken to the hospital, and is expected to recover.
Eaker was shot in his Orlando once.....still limps a wee bit.
Dummies should just be held accountable for their "mistakes", be they with a handgun, or a 392 Hemi V-8.
And of course, just because the LAW doesn't require a course, doesn't mean that taking one, a good one, isn't a Good Idea. Personally, I'd like one that has more about using a concealed weapon, under what circumstances it's legally justified for example, and less about the minutia of the law about where one can and can not carry, than the curriculium for the Texas CHL classes contains.
Stuff like this is exactly what Sarah Brady lives to hear!
I don’t mind ya tellin’ folks as long as you don’t post the damn pictures!
Generally speaking the classroom and the range are not the same place, although I've seen some that are mightly close. In fact the range were I took my CHL, now conducts the class outdoors, right behind the range, inside berms, with a sun shade over most of the area. It is in San Antonio, Texas after all. Alhtough when I took the class, the "classroom" was in a double wide trailer, and we walked out to the range, in the mist and muck.
When I renewed, I was too far from SA, so I took the class in a nice new building, in towards Austin, where the "school", shared a very nice facility with other users. But I shot for score at the same range that a certain Major Hassan used. Unlike Major Hassan, I did not take the course there, just used the range.
oopsie ping
VT and AK don't require a license/permit, although AK still issues one, which has reciprocity in many other states. I seem to recall there is at least one more state where that is true, and there are several where carrying openly is not against the law, and requires no license or permit.
Shot in his Orlando? I'd think he'd wee a bit limply.
I thought Eaker shot Tony Orlando.
It was first thing in the morning ......... at the crack of dawn!
Maybe not deadly if given prompt treatment, but because of all the bones in your feet, you will probably walk with a limp the rest of your life.
I didn’t address your points because your attack had nothing to do with what I wrote. Now go and tell the supreme court that all those gun laws are unconstitutional and see what they say. I’ll give you a hint: they don’t agree with you, and as long as you spout hatred of all who aren’t you, they never will.
Even if they did, a little firearms training goes a long way, which was the point of my comment, and one that you seem to be too terminally pissed off to understand. Tommorrow, I’ll post some pictures of the bullet holes in our floor and walls, so that everyone else can see what happens when unsafe people play with guns. You won’t get it. You can take some solace in the fact that lots of people have been thrown out of the store, howling about their second amendment right to wave a loaded gun around in a crowd like it was a crayon.
But you’ll still be wrong. Your second amendment rights end when you endanger the lives of the people around you. You have a right to liberty, too, and your right to liberty ends when you cross the threshhold of your neighbor’s home. You may also find out that having a gun and knowing how to use it are not the same things. That right does not confer any knowledge at all. A person who carries a gun with no clue how to use it is a danger to himself first, and in that respect, those instructors failed their students and cheated them. We get those people when they realize that they have no idea how to load, unload, or aim their guns.
All they have is a false sense of security and a warm feeling inside. It’s a lovely, liberal idea that you have espoused repeatedly. You’ll also find that your right to free speech does not include libel, which is what your statements are. And I think you know right now that I am not your “buddy.”
Does God give us a right of self-sefense?
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Does God give us the right to defend that life?
And to add, these are "among" the rights granted to us by our creator.
I'm not sure if you meant that list to be exhaustive or not.
Does God give us the right to defend that life?
Absolutely !
Sorry...double clutched it.
