Heres hoping Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. was kidding when he told the New York Times [NYT] he planned to donate the handcuffs used to shackle him last summer to the Smithsonian Institutes museum of black history.
Even by his self-serving standards it would be detestable, attempting to wrap himself in the robes of a civil rights martyr, as if hed been bloodied while marching for justice, rather than arrested for mouthing off to a cop who had ironically come to his rescue.

Cop: Gates Told Him "I'll See Your Momma On The Porch"
Smithsonian Institutes museum of black history.
Has anyone been there?
We’ve been in DC over 10 times in the last 4 years. Big building housing Black History on the Mall. Never been in the building.
The cop gave Henry the handcuffs?
Q.Have you seen James Crowley, the Cambridge Police sergeant who arrested you, since you sat down with him and the president and reconciled over beers?
A. Yes. We had a drink at my favorite pub in Cambridge. We met at the River Gods cafe several months ago, and he gave me the handcuffs.

I still wonder if Professor Skippy was high or something.
An arrogant Harvard professor. Seems to me we have had one of those in the news lately!!!
I read about this a few days ago, and I don’t think he was kidding. Whether the Smithsonian accepts them is still open to question, though. If they accept them it will be with that sense of “irony” usually reserved for things that deserve to have quotation marks around them, like the aforementioned “irony”. It would be , in other words, a lower case ‘teachable moment’ having those handcuffs on display, as if to say, “look, here is a symbol of how seriously twisted race relations are, STILL, in the USA”,
and no editorial comment would be needed as the cuffs just stood there behind glass, letting the viewer come to his own conclusions/

OMG, what an entitled ego this guy must have!
Get coddled and advanced by AA, then throw a fit at the honky cop and think it gets you into the annals of racial history???
If only we had national health care, he could get back on his psych meds...
Yea, like what is he doing with govt property, did he still them or is it like the hospital, you get to keep the bracelet?
I’ll bet Gates got the handcuffs somewhere else.
Restraint?????
Yeah......Good luck with that.
Thanks CS
Someone please post the pic of Skippy on his tricycle
Skippy would donate the chip on his shoulder but it is too big to fit through the Smithsonian’s loading dock door.
Someone should stand outside this goobers class room and hand copies of this with a caption that the bummer didn't help the elderly professor, but the police officer who was mocked and ridiculed was the one helping.
