A Massachusetts man is under arrest for the stash of guns police found in his possession.
Authorities took Gregory Girard, 45, into custody Wednesday afternoon on weapons charges after apparently finding dozens of guns inside his Manchester-by-the-Sea home.
A judge in Salem District Court ordered Girard held for evaluation.
The arsenal included close to 20 weapons, including rifles, two handguns, two bayonet knives, flare guns, six pairs of handcuffs, as well as a pair of both kevlar vests and helmets.
Tear gas and pepper spray grenades were also allegedly discovered at Girards residence.
All the items were acquired by Girard within the last nine months, according to police.
He was convinced that martial law was imminent, said a prosecutor on Wednesday.

No. Really.
I didn’t know any of that stuff was illegal?!?!?
Sounds like the makings of a great family comedy.
For those of us not familiar with MA law, is it against the law to own 20 firearms? Is it against the law to purchase them within 9 months?
The left is conditioning us for gun confiscation by accusing the citizen who has is private, Consitutionally protected property stolen by the State an...(oh my gosh!)...ARSENAL.
That term seems to justify firearm confiscation.
Tear gas and pepper spray grenades were also allegedly discovered at Girards residence.”
If they think that's an arsenal...
Wish I had a third story.
No kidding, that’s probably what I’d do with it.
That’s an arsenal? Who knew.
It’s not. Not at all. He’s being held for “evaluation.” We’re all going to be “evaluated” someday.
Pepper spray “grenades”:
Remember, this is Massachusetts. I don’t see anything that would have been illegal in most other states. Massachusetts has some of the most confiscatory gun laws in the nation plus anything else you may want to defend yourself.
I thought this was about Soccer... Manchester v. Arsenal.
It’s curious that there is no mention of the crime of which this man is suspected which would have justified an arrest warrant.
Do cops in MA not need justification for searches anymore?
Obviously those dimwits have not a clue what an “Arsenal” is.
Just let them come for the guns and they will find out right quick tho...
Don’t marry a shrink...
Of course, the article fails to mention which law was broken in the first place.
And the probable cause for looking was?...
I saw this story a couple days ago, and assumed that one or more of the weapons weren’t registered, but can’t find any info. You have to register every individual gun in MA.
Oh should have read further. Tipped off by disgruntled soon to be ex that was probably making up the entire “afraid to go home” thing to further her case.
Don’t marry a Liberal Shrink.
I'm convinced he was right.
