I don't necessarily believe this poll but if it is true then we should start a campaign to change this. There are thousands of cases of same sex abuse in the military and more than any other type of abuse it goes unpunished.

“The poll found that 57 percent of US voters believe that gays should serve openly,...”
Yeah, and I’d bet 95%+ of those surveyed never served.

I spent 20 plus years in the Army. And I have been retired over 18 years. NEVER in all those years have I heard one veteran or one military retiree, NONE, say they agreed with homosexuals in our military. NONE, NONE, NONE!!!

I would like to know how we will identify gays in the military? Will they wear pink uniforms? or will we tattoo somthing on their forheads?

I am not for gays in anything, as I* don’t think the question should be asked at any time in public. I wasn’t asked if I was a heterosexual when I joined the Navy and I didn’t feel the need to tell everyone I wasn’t a queer..

This is because the public are a bunch of uninformed sheeple. The military is supposed to be a well oiled machine with officers doing their part to keep things rolling smoothly. Officers don’t have time to dicipline troops because a fruit loop is getting them stired up. Officers will be spending half their time keeping the peace and separating people. All of this baloney was already tried in Vietnam during the draft and it was a waste of time.

after you oust career vets and the combat generals... add 10-15 years... and tailor the recruiting... eventually you’ll have a progressive enough crowd to say anything you want

the US military has been the progressives bonsai tree for decades

Not to mention the spread of disease of every imaginable kind along with rimming, felching, and other acts involving consumption of feces just brimming with (according to homos) delectable bacteria of every species. If people had a clue of the public health threat, which is far worse than tobacco, they would vote overwhelmingly for quarantine. This is all about the marketing of deviance.

Not surprising at all. A “large majority” put Clinton in office. As well as Obama.

Next on their agenda is pedophiles and lowering the age of consent to 13.

If anyone else doesn’t see the writing on the wall, they’re blind.

However, by a 54 to 38 percent margin, those surveyed also believe that gays serving in the military should limit displaying their sexual orientation on the job.

Which is what Don't ask, Don't tell really does. Seems America wants to go from a "gays can't serve, but we'll let them get away with it so long as they don't tell", to "gays CAN server, as long as they don't tell".

The only problem I would have with the change is that "telling" would then simply make a gay person "no longer fit for duty", and they would probably get discharged with honors, meaning it would be an easy way to get out of your service.

Under existing policy, since being gay isn't acceptable, you wouldn't just "out yourself" to get out of serving, because there would be consequences.

I would add that any person caught having sex with a person not their spouse should be punished. Not discriminatory, it would apply to both homosexuals and heterosexuals.

I don't doubt this at all. This is a way for people to appear to be so "good and open-minded" expressing an opinion that will have no direct impact on them.

Take another poll to see how many people would support out and proud homosexuals teaching their children.

I doubt that most of those who support gays in the military have considered the possible problems that might result. How about morale in an Infantry company deployed in a night defensive position with two gay soldiers (who rarely get any “alone time”) assigned to a listening post. Feel secure? Maybe we will have to look at concurrent reassignment of gay soldiers so they can be together in a new assignment. How long will it be before gay soldiers are authorized to live in family quarters? How about the morale of the NCO/Officer who cannot get family quarters due to the fact that many of the units are occupied with unmarried gay couples? Will gay military couples adopt children?

This issue is not as simple as some would suggest.

A large majority of U.S. voters believe that homosexual men and women should be allowed to serve openly in the US military, according to a poll out Wednesday.

That's one good way of shipping them out of our country, I suppose. It's better they're over there than here, right?

Unfortunately we have all seen what “open gayness” really means.

Aren’t the taliban gonna love it when we send the Village People out to do battle?

Absolute BS. I talked to the American people, and the vast, vast majority do not want gays in their military, schools, churches, day care centers, boy scouts, or zip code.

Repeatedly, Quinnipiac University polls are called independent. They always seem to go in a direction other than what you know sociatal opinion to be. Everything I have heard and everything I have seen indicates that most people acknowledge that open expression of homosexuality in the military would be detrimental to the necessary cohesion of a fighting unit. Just one question...why can’t they just keep their private lives private and do their job like the heterosexual people. Then their is no objection to them serving and the issue goes away.
