Why are those Super Bowl ad execs so mad at women?
Boston Herald ^ | February 9, 2010 | Lauren Beckham Falcone

Mad Men sure are angry at women.

Advertising execs unleashed their fury Sunday night, one lady-hating Super Bowl commercial at a time.

From Bridgestone tires to Dodge cars to Bud Light, it was bros vs. hos on the boob tube, with ads depicting women as spine-stealing nags.

Purposefully damaging.

And by that, I mean INFERNALLY purposeful.
The goal is the destruction of the family (and the Church).

And the best way to do that is to totally destroy the role of men as husbands and fathers. You go for the head when you really want to kill something.

I thought the Punxsutawney Polamalu ad was funny. Along with the Betty Shite/Abe Vigoda and Clydesdale/steer ads, those were the most harmless ones.

BTW, Betty White was great in the old Mary Tyler Moore show.

Just about any white man will be depicted as an idiot, out of shape, and a loser.

Pathetic.

Yeah, I thought the Dodge Challenger ad was pathetic. The theme was that the guy is a henpecked powerless loser, but at least if he buys a Challenger (or was it a Charger) he can feel like a real man.

It used to be that the stereotypical mid-life crisis car was to compensate for being poorly endowed. Now the Dodge Challenger is to compensate for being completely castrated.

Then there was the Dove body wash commercial for when you have even forgotten what it was like before you were snipped like an adopted mongrel dog.

“MEN (especially Heterosexual WHITE MEN) fit into 2 categories on TV. they’re either the EVIL bad guy or they’re the “Lovable DUMMY” that wouldn’t know which end of a screwdriver to use.”

You forgot one, the hybrid, the evil dummy.

Virtually every ad and tv show on the air makes men look stupid. Our country has been brainwashed to believe this. It’s just one more reason we are circling the drain.

I don’t think Dove portrayed men as wimpy. They are spending a lot of money on this marketing campaign. If you want to try this product for free ..go to Walgreens this week. $5.99 and get a 6.00 register reward. There is a coupon on their website.

Hey, I'm a married woman and my husband puts the toilet seat down and takes out the trash and puts his socks in the laundry basket and sometimes puts the cans in the recycle bin and shaves on weekends and lets me pick the movies a lot of the time and just generally puts up with my $&*#.

And as far as I'm concerned, he can drive any damn car he wants*!

I almost cheered when I saw that commercial. Although my husband does these things with a lot more grace :-)

*Except a motorcycle, LOL!

Couldn't agree more. Of course I said this on this board last week and was called a misogynist by a woman here. The truth is a dangerous thing.

Ditzy broad doesn’t understand the ad business. But she reinforces everything the ads were meant to do. Thanks for extra air time, evil woman.

I am with ya girlFRiend!

I LOVE MY MAN!

Women are too danged thin-skinned...

there are way more commercials and shows that belittle men and fathers than poke fun at women....

Some women need to just grow up and get over themselves...

I am so blessed to have a man that puts up with me!

Get this. In a Boston Globe editorial today they called the ads misogynistic and overheated and pushed a shallow notion of what it is to be a man. They then point out that 2 members of the Saints offered better examples of what family is all about. Ready for this? Scott Fujita used the media to discuss his support for gay marriage!! They had the nerve to say that this is what family and manhood is all about. According to the Globe that is a pro-family stance....huh? They failed to mention that he planned to be drunk for 30 days!
